Lovely museum

Had nice displays with interacting questionnaires/games. A most interesting 20 minutes video on 1000 Islands and Bolt Castle

First time I have been back yo this place in years. It was a white elephant when it was built and seems to be about the same now. Only redeeming quality is that it is free for 2016 instead of the posted $5 admission fee. Not much there, a few boat models and some sort of fashion display.

So much to see and its in its off season. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. It is there off season but you don't feel unwelcome. They are always making changes to bring more interest to Gananoque. My grandchildren love the tower and the theatre. My sister in law enjoyed the History and it brought back many fond memories... Interesting museum and well done for small museum which you can walk through in short time. Admission is by donation of your choosing. Very friendly museum staff. Nice that a bit of history is being kept alive.

Planned to visit this museum while in the area and I am glad we did. Nice museum with a good amount of interesting exhibits to see. Will be about an hour to enjoy both floors but the location offers many other things to see and do nearby. In close proximity to the boat museum, the marina, the boat tour docks,... More

This is a very well-done small town museum with an impressive amount of information relating to the War of 1812, the early manufacturing history of Gananoque, and the local Thousand Island cottaging and fishing activities. They have a small gift shop with quality items.

This is not a large museum, but a wide variety of exhibits cover the history of the 1000 Islands area rather well, with special emphasis on the golden age of the millionaires who built their massive "cottages" on the islands.

This museum is worth the time to visit and gives a good overview of the area. There was no fee when we visited - donations only.

Really well preserved artifacts and interesting history of 1000 Islands. I highly recommend it. Very close to boat cruises and beach.

If you're visiting Gananoque and have an interest in history, then you want to spend a couple hours here. By no means the only thing to see, but featured, is a 30-minutes film on the Boldt Castle which superbly covers the history of this extravaganza built on one of the islands in the Thousand Islands. Admission is free but visitors... More
