Half Moon Bay is a natural rock bay formation on Bostwick Island that has been transformed into a summer place of worship for all. On Sunday afternoons during the summer, worshipers who come to Half Moon Bay,remain in their boats to sing hymns, listen to guest speakers and participate in a non-denominational service. The "Cathedral" is inspirational, humbling and natural. Services are at 4:00 p.m

Went on a Kayaking trip with 1000 Islands Kayaking Company and this magical place was one of our stopping points. Loved the history of the place as told by our Guide, River. A place to visit if you have a chance.

We try to attend whenever we are in the area- it’s a very unique experience to attend one if their non-denominational services while sitting in your boat (canoe, kayak, zodiac, whatever).

We needed a spot where we could get out of our kayaks and have a rest. We found this cove and went in to find the perfect spot. While there we met people setting up for a church service later in the day.

In the summer on Sundays this bay offers a different experience- there is a church service held here and they wholeheartedly welcome anyone. Hymn books are passed out to the boaters who gather and drop anchor for the service in the bay. It's a beautiful way to put a new twist on an old tradition.

True confessions here -- we rented a double kayak and ventured out on our own to explore. Along the way we ran into the kayak tour and "tagged along" as they neared half moon bay and with their permission, we got the lowdown on half moon bay form the tour guides.

So this is a shout out to the tour guides who helped us appreciate the history of half moon bay and we now appreciate the historical pictures a lot more.

If you're there in the summer, you can attend the church services there and you'll have to come like they have done for decades -- in your boat

Had a magnificent celebration on a summer Sunday. Took the volunteer boat over to the island. Taking part in the service on shore, with other parishioners singing from their boats, made for an unforgettable service.
