To conquer my fear of heights I registered for a tandem parachute jump. At arrival I was welcomed by very friendly the staff. They put me at ease by answering all my questions. I said to myself, Ed, my tandem partner has 5,000 jumps and does for 30 years now and he probably wants to see his family for dinner today.
After briefing we got into the small plane. It took about 10 minutes for the plane to climb to 10,000 feet. With me and my tandem partner was a young Lady who did her first solo-jump and Donald a seasoned jumper. When the door opened I felt at ease and we jumped out. In mid Donald came (flew) over to me and gave me a High Five. After about one minute the parachute and Ed guided me to circle around a bit and then we landed exactly were we wanted. In closing: I will jump again.

My son, Daniel [35] and myself went on a dare...I chickened out, but Dan wanted to have this experience.
The Owner, Tom, was wonderful and so personable. His son, Will, was Dan's tandem jumper. It was Will's birthday, so he shared his cake with us. Everyone there was so friendly.
Will video-taped the experience with a wrist camera. I lay on the grass and watched these guys come down...wow.. it was magic watching them. I hope that whoever reads this, ignores that one bad review. Everyone was great, they put you at ease, safety is their priority, but they do not put you at unease explaining what to do or not to do.
Kudos to Will and his Dad, Tom, and it was very nice meeting you all. Hey Tom and Will, maybe next year I will do it!! ;)

I happened upon this old hangar by accident when the driver of our car was a little lost. We got out and looked at the cool planes, some from World War II. Then we were asked if we were there for the skydiving, a little set up around the corner. It was close to sunset so we would have to hurry. Personally I never considered skydiving before in my life, but this seemed like a good chance. I never regretted it. There was a quick but thorough orientation. All the jumpers had a good sense of humor. I always felt safe. I even had a sprained ankle at the time but you go up in tandem, strapped to another experienced guy who did the landing for me. We flew high enough for about 30 seconds of freefalling - an experience i have been unable to recreated since. The tandem instructor allows you to take control of turning and the speed for a bit... it was great. Worth $250 but I don't have to money to pay for all the times I would like to try diving. I thought how laid back and easy the guys were totally put everyone at ease. And it was cool how they would gauge how much "thrill" you were seeking. - Sept 23, 2007

Poorly maintained aircraft meant our flight got cancelled due to mechanical failure at take off. If that isn’t scary enough the owners refused to refund the deposits stating we could “reschedule”. Even had we not driven two hours to get there we would not likely want to trust this place!

We planned an entire weekend for my friend's 30th birthday and we were coming down from Ottawa. We had emailed a month before and asked about reservations, they assured us that they can complete 73 jumps in a day and it wasn't mandatory for us to reserve prior unless we wanted a specific time. We showed up around 3pm on a Saturday and they said that they could accommodate us at 6:30pm. We came back around 6:15pm, the women who booked us seemed to have forgotten about us and said that we could not jump since they were backlogged due to plane issues. She said that she did not call us because she did not have our phone number which was not true as she took it down during the reservation. We asked if they could accommodate us the next day or later on that night and she said that she couldn't do anything for us. So we basically left without jumping and without any attempt to rectify the situation. We found out from a group of three, who were also told that they may not be able to jump, that the larger plane usually used was having mechanical problems and was unavailable for the past 9 weeks and this was the reason that delays were occurring. Not only was it frustrating that we were not called to be advised of the delays as we came from our hotel in Kingston, there was no attempt to accommodate us even the next day as we were coming out of town and paying for an hotel to experience skydiving in Gananoque.

When you arrive, it is like you are in a different world. Everyone is fit, friendly, and has an air of confidence about them. The staff are all friendly and experienced. There is a really great feeling of comradery and they make you feel part of it.
The cost seems a bit steep; $275, but if you go within a month for your second jump, they knock off $100. Don’t forget; this is the stuff of bucket lists.
Your first flight is tandem; strapped to the front of an instructor. There are only a few instructions, but they go over them a few times just to make you comfortable. The scenery is breath-taking and the feeling of flying through the air unforgettable.
You jump out at 13,500 feet and freefall for 8,000 feet before the parachute opens. The freefall is about 30 seconds and the parachute part about two minutes. In both parts, you are able to maneuver and it is a really cool experience. The trainers are very skilled and everyone lands – at timed intervals – within a few feet of each other. You slide in on your butt so don’t wear new pants.
This is an empowering experience.

The guys who took my daughter Deb and myself tandem skydiving on Friday were totally amazing. I am 73, Deb is 49, this was a first for both of us. Just the plane ride was a thrill, but the actual skydive is indescribable. When my guy did a "roll" he kind of left part of my tummy way up there, but I am so glad I can now cross this off my "bucket list", and that we chose Gananoque Skydive. We would recommend it to anyone. Thank you again for making our experience something we will never forget. Your sense(s) of humour certainly put us at ease.

This was the first time my mom and I had gone skydiving. Although nerves are usually an issue for something like this, it wasn't for us, so I can't comment on the staff being a calming presence. The reason for the 4 stars is that although they obviously have no control over the weather, there was no notice provided for an almost 6-hour delay. We were supposed to jump at 10 AM, and arrived at 9:30, only to be told upon arrival that they had been on a weather hold for 2.5 hours. When asked for an updated jump time, they weren't able to give us a firm answer, saying that we would be jumping around 2 or 3. I said that we would call before we left again to get a better idea of timing. When I tried calling the listed number on their website, a 1844 number, it continued to ring. I had to search through other avenues to find their actual phone number, where I was told that we would be jumping at 2:45. We arrived back at 2:15, and were told that we would be jumping at 4.

The jump experience itself was great, and the people involving in the actual jump were fantastic. I only wish the administrative team was a little more informative and organized. Instead of this being a morning thing, it turned into waiting around for an entire day.

SkyDive Gananoque was amazing!! My Dad and I enjoyed our jump last Saturday. It was my first time, my Dad has jumped before (ex paratrooper). The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Our tandem instructors were great! We loved every minute! Totally recommend!
