Our guide Joannie was great the entire time, always making sure we felt safe and comfortable! We were out on a windier day (a few bigger waves), but she always checked in with us to make sure we felt good. We had never kayaked in the sea before, but we've kayaked multiple times in lakes, we wouldn't recommend this activity if you have never kayaked before, can be considered an intermediate kayaking activity. Equipment provided (from head to toe) was great! Definitely a must if you like water sports :)

We've done something similar at Lake Superior which is arguably ocean-like, and definitely colder water than we had here at Perce. We were happy to be provided with (sleeveless) wetsuits, booties, lifejackets, spray skirts, coats. When they say "just bring your bathing suit" they really mean it! There was no concern of getting cold. The kayaks were very stable, and while we hadn't used foot-steering before it was easy to get the hang of. Our guide Lance provided excellent instruction, both verbal and hands on. And he was very good-natured with a great sense of humour that got our family of 5 laughing many times. We did the 5pm trip. I would suggest making a reservation at one of the top-rated restaurants earlier in the day/week. By the time we were done kayaking we were hungry and everything was packed.

If you are skilled, you won’t be disappointed but if not, read on...
I kayaked on the lakes before and once in the past I had done see kayaking (in the west coast). Although the use of  pedals(to move the kayak in different directions) was a new thing to me.  For my teenage sister, it was the first sea kayaking experience and she was quite excited about it: sea kayaking and getting to see the Percé rock up close. Little did we know...
The other people in our group were team of a male and a female and they seemed to be  experienced kayakers. From the moment we got on the water, we had difficulty keeping up with the others. One of the tour guides stayed with us, while the other continued with the group. After about 10-15 minutes on the water and as we were dragging way behind the others, the guide asked us to head back to the shore. We said no, expressing how we really wanted to continue but he said he knew what he was doing and we’d be sore later; so we followed his order. A lady from the main office came and directed us back to the building where we changed and got ready to go. She encouraged my sister and asked her not to give up so easily. They refunded us half of our money.
This company, with no doubts, has incredible tours,  incredible staff and incredible guides but unfortunately we couldn’t enjoy the tour.  As much as I appreciate their attentiveness,  support and professionalism , I could not rate our overall experience positive. It was the saddest part of our 8-day long trip and I don’t know how much of it was my own fault: did I underestimate the difficulty of this activity?
I think they might be able to make some improvements: maybe they should not advertise their tours as suitable for all skill levels. But if the tours are indeed manageable by all groups, maybe they could group people based on their skill levels.Â
When we failed, we were told the wind made it extra difficult. Well maybe they could have warned us before we started. In fact, back in 2014, I had sea kayaking booked at Bay of Fundy and upon arrival was told about the wind and water condition. Knowing the limit of my skills, I decided not to go on that tour. Â

Great fun and a close-up view of much wildlife on the Perce rock. Guides were terrific. While they said this was not the norm, at one point we were surrounded by Minke whales breaching withing 15 feet of our kayak and swimming directly under our boat - an exhilarating experience!

I didn't expect this to be so easy--they have great equipment that made it a pleasure to paddle. Our guide was very good ay helping us enjoy what he clearly enjoyed--watching wildlife and kayaking the clear, serene waters around the rock.

Shout out to Avolo and especially Gaétan! We took the 2 hour tour to The Rocher at 5:15 pm, and the lighting at that time of day was amazing. The 2-seater kayaks are quite stable, and they outfit you with the proper gear to be comfortable on the water. It's a relatively easy paddle with a few "more intense" moments when you are less sheltered. But just paddle hard and you will be fine. Bonus: Gaétan took great pictures of us with the hole in the background. Now that deserves a tip!!

Had a great time on the Rocher trip. The scenery was beautiful, and Kevin, our guide, was very fun and informative. Just don't expect him to buy you a drink before he asks to look up your (kayak) skirt. Would definitely love to make the 17-hour drive from mid-western Ontario to come here again.

-- On request, John the kayak tour guide, opened gave a 7 AM tour of Perce rock.
-- They usually open at 8 AM.
-- John seemed to know a lot about the Rock formations geological and history details.
-- The gear included wind jackets and all the essentials.
-- Some of us did not know swimming and had never kayaked before. John made us feel very comfortable and walked us through everything.
-- Great sense of humor.
-- There prices are competitive and their office is right next to a pub, parking lot, ice cream place and coffee shop.

I would highly recommend a kayaking tour guided by Avolo Pleir Air. All the equipment you need is provided, even dry bags for your phones/cameras/wallets etc. Our guide, Jonathan, was extremely knowledgeable, inclusive, and helpful. This tour is something that anyone with basic paddling skills would find fun and accessible. Even if you're a total beginner, I got the impression that the guide would ensure that you're safe and having fun. An experienced ocean kayaker would not be challenged by the 2 hour tour, but this trip is nevertheless a great introduction to the area. Our guide was very passionate about the sport, and very well-informed about the local wildlife and geography. I gained a lot from this trip. My only regret is that we didn't book the 4 hour expedition.

This was our first kayaking experience and we opted for the 4 h excursion. Kevin, our guide, was very knowledgeable and very inclusive (my husband speaks a limited amount of French but this was not an issue). It was worth every penny we spent and more. Une experience inoubliable ( and now I will for sure purchase kayaks for our cottage; I'm hooked
