I've now had the privilege of performing in three shows with Mariposa Arts Theatre, and this last time was the most bold and creative experience - having put on a production as we're just emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown restrictions and delivering it as an outdoor performance on the grounds of the historic Stephen Leacock Museum! The MAT is incredibly talented, capable and focused on providing the highest possible quality of live theatre in the region, and that holds true whether you are in the audience or part of the cast and crew. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

We haven't seen a bad play yet. One of our favourites is still "Arsenic and Old Lace", but we've seen may over the years that were funny, sad, dramatic, poignant, and always enjoyable. It's nice to see them in the small theatre, where one has a more intimate experience with the actors, and of course, not a bad seat in the house. During intermission you can peruse the art in the green room for sale by local artists while you have your snack or beverage.

Another great line up of shows this season from MAT. The Rez Sisters was a hilarious play with some very touching moments. Capped the season nicely.

The MAT performs plays that are second to none. The acting by these amateurs is highly professional, and they do not shy away from difficult plays. We saw them perform "The Glass Menagerie" by Tennessee Williams last week, a heavy drama, which they performed brilliantly. We always leave the theater in wonderment at the quality of the acting. That they do it for the pure enjoyment of performing well is very evident. Don't miss your next opportunity to see them.
