This was a great golf course and one we loved to play for 20 years now. Sadly the staff has been changed out and replaced with ONE RUDE unwelcoming unprofessional employee. This older new hire since last year doesn’t make any effort in welcoming, even acknowledging our presence! He is the face of the company and he make’s every effort in being a total jerk! We’ll have a power cart reserved and on a arrival his response is “ I don’t see a reservation for one so you didn’t make one!” We have played this course consistently and loyally for 20 years. Never have we ever had such rudeness and unprofessionalism! This is just the tip of the iceberg on one instance. We have been warned by other customers walking up to the pro shop that the guy in there is very rude!
There are other problems with the Golf course as in the condition. Weed infested fairways, poorly rolled and mowed greens, fairways are beaten up and hasn’t seen proper maintenance of repair and top dressing for years long before covid. I don’t believe for a second this is a employee or even a shortage problem. This is lack of caring from the top. If you pay a decent wage that corresponds with the work. Then you will attract those quality workers. All through covid. The golf course was full of customers. You can’t say covid hurt the hospitality business of restaurants and golf courses when people had nothing better to do than play and go out to eat while being paid to stay home from work! And We saw it. Courses were always busy and restaurants made more meals with less staff and more profits for the owners !
The restaurant at the golf course Micky J’s… we would never return to after learning of a severe rating of poor food health & safety practices as reported on the website of VIHA back in 2022.

Can’t say enough nice things about this course and their employees. Won’t go into specifics, but I’ve had nothing but positive experiences. It’s a great little course. Challenging enough and moves well. Love it!!

My husband and his friend went to use IDD # 61978892-DXFSFI today, and what a HUGE disappointment. After driving from Nanaimo to almost Bowser they had to wait quite a while to tee off as they had a huge backlog of people golfing.. It was a total cluster and it was so backed up that they would have to wait 15 to 20 minutes to be able to tee off from any hole.. They were offered no refund for either the golf or the cart they rented.

Was the WORST experience ever for them, and I myself am angry and horrified at the same time.

They golfed ONE HOLE and that was all they could take of the bad situation.

My husband and myself are regular visitors to Mickey J's restaurant. Although not golfers we do enjoy the ambiance Arrowsmith Golf Course has to offer. The grounds are beautifully maintained, the staff everywhere is always happy and polite. Last night we went and had a dinner consisting of a Pad Thai wrap and jalapeño poppers for appies. YUM YUM!! The Mediterranean flat bread looked to die for as well! If in the area, or in Qualicum Beach this is a must go! The prices are fabulous and the food and service are outstanding! The view... mountains, deer fearlessly wandering around, the pond.... breathtaking. Thanks for the great night

They pack too many people onto this course. Had to wait at every tee box with other people behind us.

I did not enjoy the course layout. Most of the holes are short and the next tee box is often too close to the green. You have to wait for the group ahead to tee off and move before you can go, otherwise an errant shot will be right into them.

Food in the restaurant was good. Service was below average.

Overall, there are better choices close by.

Four of us reserved a table for the Saturday night Prime Rib Special... we have heard good reviews. Unfortunately, the Golf Club was also hosting a fund raiser the same evening - the noise was terrible. The waitress did move us to a quieter spot - the hallway by the entrance and the washrooms and the hot dog machine. Really? The Prime Rib was far from "prime" - I had asked for well done and got rare. My husband asked for med well steak - it was blue rare. The Yorkshire Pudding was cold and brittle, There was no mashed potatoes (evidently they had run out due to the large party crowd) and were replaced with the morning's hash browns (cold and hard) and the veggies were overdone and yup - cold. Dessert was a cake from Save-On - what a disappointment!
