This was a truly amazing morning. Although, they are rightly proud of their 100% sighting record this year, there is still a part of you that worries that today might just be the day they don’t show up! I needn’t have worried, Dan knew exactly where to head and we saw many humpback whales this morning. Despite staying a respectful distance, one headed straight for and under our boat, which was terrifying but wonderful at the same time. This isn’t a ‘you’ve seen one, we can go back now’ trip; we spent ages searching and waiting for the pods to resurface before heading to the ecological reserve to see basking sea lions. This is an experience I will remember for a long time. Thank you

My wife and I had taken a whale watching tour with a larger company in Victoria the day prior and were left disappointed. We headed to Sooke with no real plans and ended up stumbling across Sooke Costal Explorations while driving to our hotel. We literally walked in and were put on the afternoon sailing with another couple. Captain Dan was great! The water was still without any wind. We were surrounded by Humpback whales. This was literally a once in a lifetime experience. We were on a smaller boat and at times were maybe 20 feet from diving Humpback whales. The staff were down to earth, knowledgeable and loved their job. I couldn't tell who was more excited about seeing the whales so close, us or Captain Dan! If you're looking for a whale watching experience second to none I strongly recommend Sooke Coastal Explorations. Thanks guys for the amazing day!
