We stayed at the Arbutus Cove Guesthouse as part of a walking trip. The 17 Mile Pub is about a 15 minute uphill walk from the guesthouse and it was worth it. Good pub food. Skip the fancy drinks and just go for the old tried and true. Can be noisy - this is the place to be.

Enjoyed a top notch Sunday lunch with my wife, daughter and granddaughter. The seafood chowder in a bread bowl, mountain of poutine, crispy fish & chips , veggie burger and Guinness pour were first class as advertised. That’s not all the cleanliness was rated perfect by three clean freaks - doesn’t get better.

17 mile pub is an quaint and cozy historic pub set between Victoria and Sooke. There are six in our family and we were treating one of our adult daughters to a birthday dinner and a couple of drinks as she really likes this pub (downstairs). All six of us had a well prepared hot and tasty meal. The price and quantity was good. The staff is really nice and attentive and we left happy. The only downside was the dingy, charmless, empty and dusty little upstairs room where they placed us for our six person family meal. We wished we had known about the upstairs room before we drove to the pub we would have gone somewhere else.

We visited this pub twice during our stay in East Sooke and it was very enjoyable with good food and friendly service!
Seems to be popular with the locals and I can understand why.
We enjoyed the seafood chowder and fish & chips.
It has a good pub atmosphere with a handy liquor store in the same parking lot.
It was a great location for us but the location is perfect if you're travelling between Victoria and Sooke right on the highway!
Would def visit again and recommend the 17 Mile House Pub!

Cool old pub, 126 years old. We sat at a picnic table on the patio and I had the Roast Beef Dip sandwich with salad, which was very good and my Sweetie had Coconut Curry soup with extra rice and Chicken which she said was only was average. Good beer selection and a nice sunny afternoon. Friendly staff, great service. Our young waitress Jacqui was very friendly.

The food is great and the service is good but the outdoor play area and dog friendly environment makes it feel like home. Live music is a regular feature too and so there's really something for everyone.

Although there is quite a bit of history in this pub, the food disappointing. It’s a local hangout for the town, but extremely dark and depressing inside. We ordered BLT and Beer, and it was literally thrown together, did not think a simple BLT could be that bad. Keep driving, others areas to explore.

Most pub fare and atmosphere is predictable and average. But we found the 17 Mille Pub House a cut above the rest. The atmosphere is congenial. The food is excellent. And the service is friendly.

We ate here several times while staying near Sooke. Good food (grilled cheese was GREAT), and reasonably priced. Music trivia on Sundays and Live music on Sat night Parking is cozy when it gets real crowded. Reccommended..

We ended up here while taking a scenic drive, and we're really lucky we did! They have a good selection of beer and drinks. I enjoyed a good cold Labatts and my wife had a Jameson and ginger ale. We both chose the seafood chowder. It was perfect! Thick style with lots of seafood and served in a sourdough bowl. They toasted the cut out bread lid, a nice touch! The pub has been there since the 1890's, and there are cool old pictures displayed. They also have a dart board and pool table if you're looking for a place to hang out. I highly recommend this great oasis!
