A Great Place for a Scenic Walk
If you happen to be staying in Sooke, this is a fantastic place to take a walk. There's a harbor side and a more open to the strait (and the mountains!) side with lots of great photo ops as well as terrific places to just sit and take in the glorious scenery. Parking at sunset looks tricky (we were leaving and didn't have any trouble around 4 in the afternoon when we arrived) but there's a parking lot right at the entrance.

    Lovely spot for a Walk
We had a good weather day and did the 1.2km walk to the end of Whiffin Spit. Lots of people in the area use this as a good exercise avenue. Lots of interesting wildflowers and the typical BC fallen tree logs everywhere. A nice way to get some fresh air and exercise.

A Gem In Sooke- The Whiffin Spit
Have been coming to the Sooke area for may Years and this is definitely a gem amongst locals and tourists a like. The trail is approximately a 45 minute walk from start to finish and there is resting benches along the way to observe the beautiful surroundings this trail has to offer. A must visit spot in Sooke.

What a lovely place to walk. Our visit was on a blustery day, so watching the waves crash on the rocks was exhilarating. An easy flat walk with lovely ocean and harbour views. Free parking, pet friendly.

The Spit is about 1.8 k walk that separates the ocean from the bay. The views of the surrounding areas are beautiful. This walk is nice and flat with benches along the path to sit at and just enjoy the moment! Parking is free with 2 handicap spots and about 10 or 12 other spots. There is also street parking. This walk is well worth an hour or so f your time!

This tract of land gave me the best walks of my life. Every step gave a new photo-worthy view. I went twice: once during the day and once in the evening. On the evening trip, we saw a lot more wildlife. There was a seal in the water on the beach that was near the end of the spit. On the way back, a large crane/stork(?) flew in and landed on one of the banks. Finally, we saw a family of otters cross the path in the dusk. Truly magical if you're looking for a place with clean air and amazing views of land, sea, and air.

It was a very nice spot for a picnic lunch. We enjoyed it while looking out at the scenery and birds. There were a lot of people when we arrived so parking was a problem as the lot is small. Several families were here with small children and others walking their dogs.

This is a lovely walk out on the spit. There are lots of benches for sitting on, lots of birds and seals to watch along with boats coming and going. A light ocean breeze when we walked made it delightful. It lacked sufficient parking nearby though so be prepared for extra walking. It had a pit toilet on site with hand sanitizer. Lots of people walking dogs. Lots of wood washed up of interesting shapes and sizes.
Very relaxing.

We parked in the small free car park by the entry to the spit path that runs between water on each side. The views are beautiful and the atmosphere is very peaceful. There are benches to rest on and absorb the views. Well worth taking an hour or more to enjoy.

My wife and I would have never discovered this hidden gem during our 2 day stay in Sooke. Basically on a whim, we just chose to drive off from Highway 14 to find some sort of place we could view the ocean, and voila, we found this park. Why was there no signage from the Highway? This is a great place to "chill" and have a wonderful oceanside walk.

came here for a walk last year and it was gorgeous. now, sadly it is a huge dog toilet. one woman had five off leash large dogs and didnt pick up after any of them. most walkers had one or two but again just left the dog gifts where they dropped.
