Went here for a family picnic while visiting Ottawa. Beautiful little beach with a few picnic tables. Lots of people bbqing and having fun on a Saturday night. There were signs warning of "swimmer's itch" which was a little off-putting - I stayed on land but lots of people were swimming without concern. I believe lifeguards are 10-6 or something... More

Granted it was a holiday weekend when I visited the lake and therefore it was a little busy. I loved floating on the lake but it was a little windy. Excellent get away and I stopped at the local smokehouse and got smoked salmon and smoked cheese- best part of my day out at Meech Lake!

I've been going to this lake to swim for years. There is a parking fee but, if you like cycling you can save on that. The water is clean and is fun if you like swimming far out.

Meech Lake is within easy driving distance (20 mins) of downtown Ottawa. It has two beaches, I prefer the second, further beach (Blanchet) because the parking is closer to the beach and it is better for distance (open water) swimming. The last 5km of roadway is not in great shape and is quite narrow. Watch out for cyclists and pedestrians.... More

Large enough lake to go canoeing to paddle along the shoreline and in isolated area as well as a sandy beach for swimming and have a picnic.

Taking a drive around the lake was beautiful. As the passenger, I got to enjoy the view along the way. However, the road surface is showing the damage of too many winters, and my driver had his work cut out for him. Quite a few of the cottages are very well maintained and charming. I am told that in the... More

Nice lake 5 mins from Ottawa on the quebec side...in the gatineau hills. Beautifull surroundings for family picnics and swimming...a must see if you are in the area

Went for a casual drive through hoping to see the site of the 1980's Meech Lake Accord. Didn't really know where to look and didn't see any signs to commemorate it. It is a nice drive along the lake.

10 minutes from downtown Ottawa and nice place for a lazy Sunday. You can swim in the lake and mostly locals like to go there. Its in Chelsea and very close to the prime minister summer residence.

We spent a summer afternoon here in our canoe. The lake was very picturesque, akin to something in Algonquin Park. There was an easily accessible boat launch and parking area about half way along the lake, accessible from Chemin du Lac Meech. The lake was calm and appropriately sized for a canoe. There are a number of bays to explore,... More
