Great birthday party
Feb. 2020
We had our daughter's 12th birthday party at Clip n Climb and she had a great time. She had 1hr 15 mins of climbing (all supervised by staff) and then 45 minutes in a party room. There is a separate area for kids' climbing (only kids) and they limit the numbers so very little lining up. We used the party room after for pizza and cake. Definitely recommend.

Day camp
Aug. 2017 • Family
The facility is attractive, in an old converted church, stunning. But location is not everything. It may be the case in real estate but not when you're running a business. The face of your business says a lot about the people running it and how much they are serious about customer service. For these reasons, you carefully pick your staff to make a lasting impression, the positive kind! Not only did my son did not enjoy the camp due to mismatch of levels (can't blame the camp for this) but much of this negative experience was attributed to the staff, unengaging, disconnected, and rude. When my own son notices the disinterested tone and rudeness of the first face we saw, who was taking attendence, that speaks volumes about management and the organization itself. Staff needs some serious training and/or the hiring manager needs to carefully screen and check references of potential hires. The camp was not worth the time and trouble. Hope the one in Kanata does things differently and have staff that are representative and willing to make the effort for a positive.experience, especially for our kids!

Clip'n'Climb is great for all!
Apr. 2017 • Family
This review is limited to the Clip'n'Climb section of the gym, as it is the only one that we've visited. It's basically a number of different creative climbing walls of varying difficulty, with a hydraulic belay system so that people can climb solo.

We've been several times, and hosted two birthday parties there. It has always been great. The reservations and timing are respected, the safety briefing is comprehensive, there are plenty of staff in the climbing area to check that you're clipped in properly so you're never standing around waiting for long, and it is equally appealing for kid to adult beginning or novice climbers. You get an hour to climb, but I've found that is generally plenty.

Would highly recommend this activity -- great physical fun!

Invigorating Workout Combined with Cool Fun - Adults and Kids!
Oct. 2016 • Family
This gym has different areas depending on your athletic ability/desire and whether you are an adult or kid. The Clip n Climb is huge fun with kids or preteens - adults shouldn't sit around - do it with your kids! The bouldering uses no shoes or tethers and you just grab where you can and scale a wall. The auto belaying uses tethers and requires a mini-test but is highly worth the incredible workout to your entire body. The manual belaying requires another person to hold your rope while you climb and requires a short course to take. I recommend any first time visitors do clip n climb (Reservation required) or auto belay. They include the rental for the shoes you need to wear.
They have expanded their facility with a new gym and very unusual equipment. You will not be disappointed in your workout so shake it up! If you are visiting Ottawa, it's something to do on a rainy day as this facility is truly one of the best I've seen anywhere I've travelled.
The staff are laid back and pricing is very unclear - I suggest the owner clearly post pricing for auto belays as it's $20 for teens but the sign posts $8.95.
They offer exercises classes and training and the regulars who attend are very friendly, sociable and helpful. Quite an interactive experience and would love to do it monthly.

Clip and climb a blast
Jul. 2016 • Family
This is the first time we had been to a climbing location with our 10 and 12 year old. They had do much fun in the clip and climb. The staff was awesome and the kids enjoyed the big slide and leap of faith extra offer. Easy to get to about 10 minutes from downtown Ottawa.

First time bouldering; lots to choose from!
Jul. 2016 • Friends
A friend took me to Altitude Gym as my first experience in bouldering.

I was quite pleasantly surprised by the size and varied structures available. There were lots of different climbing routes available throughout the building, including a bouldering setup outside as well.

There was plenty that was challenging to me (a first timer!) as well as lots of advanced stuff in addition to bouldering (auto-belay and other setups).

I look forward to coming back!

Great Gym, Not so Great Staff
Jun. 2016 • Friends
I've been Climbing at Altitude for the last couple of years and really love the gym. The bordering there is great. I find they have a lot of options for beginnings as well as more advanced climbers. I usually find the staff very friendly and able to answer any questions I might have, however I feel very uncertain about going back after a bad experience with one of the staff. While he was knowledgeable about climbing and eager to show off, he made me and my friends very uncomfortable by eavesdropping on our conversations and butting in with information that was not relevant. He also needs to watch his language and not swear in front of children. I attempted to contact a manager to tell them this, and several other details about how unprofessional he was acting, but have yet to be contacted by anyone.

Good space shame it had such disrespectful, rude and unpleasant staff. When I was speaking with the supervisor he seamed like a great guy. I can not say the same for the rest. In particular the ladey doing the testing was very unpleasant to be around. I don't know if this was just a language issue. The space was nice.

Clip N Climb is awesome fun for adults and kids
Feb. 2016 • Family
Loved this place. Kids and adults had a lot of fun. The Clip 'n Climb is fantastic - very unique and a great way for kids to get introduced to rock climbing.
