Came to Saint-Sauveur for a great day of skiing and I was not disappointed. There was a lot of people that day as we were expecting 20+ cm of snow. The new heated 6 person chairlift was smooth and made the lines go faster. Less time waiting and more skiing :)

New 6-person central chairlift with HEATED and padded seats shortened the line time and made the ride up that much more comfortable. Most runs open and well covered with artificial snow. Used locker area to change, lots of space. Lunch at the T-bar resto, good service and variety of menu choices. Not 5/5, because the snow became quickly ‘clumpy’ by mid morning and would have needed constant grooming.

Tangers just bought what used to be the Factories St Sauveur outlets.
Same great stores.
Nice mix of boutiques.
Also walk down 2 blocks to Rue Principale, over a 10 block stretch, you will find great independant mom and pop shops, and more interestingly small terrace restaurants.
Nice way to get away from the city for an afternoon and dinner at night.

It is a very beautiful place but if you do not speak French you better don’t waste your time and money!
I have never experienced a tourist place that does not welcome English speaking tourists. As a matter of fact treats them with nothing but rudeness, arrogance, disrespect and ignorance. At least 80% of the places we went to did not or pretended not to speak English. The restaurants do not have English menus. We went to two cafes where we were asked to leave if we can’t speak French. Unbelievable! Had I known they take their bilingual local problems out on tourists, I would have never booked a trip here. I felt like in a bad movie.
If I ever come to Canada again, it will certainly not be Quebec! Oh my God 🙈

Beautiful little town, good restaurants, great shopping, and lots more. Great skiing hills in winter and lots of terrasses in the summer! Only one hour from Montreal!

The resort is well-located less than an hour from Montreal. The surrounding village is nice and offers a wide range of lodging and dining.
The parking is available but is quickly overflowing. There is plenty of lockers and the lunch area is quite open leaving enough room for the hole family. Hot food is available for purchase and the bar is very nice (adults only).
The rides are well maintained and the lifts efficient.
The ski school, for the kids, is great. They had a great time.
A repeat, for sure!

We have been coming to St Sauveur for almost 40 years and always enjoy the skiing. It isn't as big as Tremblant but the hills are good and the line-ups are not long. We regularly come in March (for Ontario's March break) and you can ski down and straight onto the chair lift without a wait. Only criticism is the food in the cafeteria is really sub par - not a deal breaker though as you can pack a lunch or go to any of the many restaurants that are a 5 minute drive from the hills.

Great place to visit or have a nice weekend. You can walk to everything, restaurants and shops are very nice, and quaint. I went to Page bakery, which was a delightful experience. Moe's and Gibby's are great places to eat also. If you need to get away for a couple of days, come here......

If you have not been to Saint Sauveur before you may be disappointed by how short the runs are and how extremely busy the mountain is. If you have skied any decent hill in the west don't expect any challange or enjoyment here. If you are a beginner or coming from Montreal for an afternoon or night of skiing then you will be satisfied. We had some novice skiers with us that needed rentals and some easy runs. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the rentals were in good shape and tuned-up.
Lift tickect were expensive for the type of mountain, but I suspect you are paying more for it's location to a large urban center. Lift lines were not long so you could get as many runs in as you wanted, but the hills are crowded. All-in-all nothing BAD about the mountain, just not as grand as a large mountain resort.
A big positive is the mountain is located in one of the nicest apres-ski villages you will find. The many bistros and boutiques and great outlet stores make this an all round destinations. This is one of th pluses that makes Whistler pale....you re not stuck in a mountain resort where all the eateries and stores are owned by a giant corporation. In closing....average skiing but everything else scores high.

Lots of small, interesting shops to visit, and many restaurants to chose from. Especially enjoyed the church which had some lovely music on. Bitter cold, but still enjoyed it and people were very friendly. Will visit again in the summer :)

What's the snow level typically like in late-December? Is there typically enough to ski? Thanks!

Are there any good hikes near Saint-Saveur? We wanted to visit for a weekend because we saw a hotel package deal, but I really also want to hike and see some fall foliage colours. Any suggestions?
Written October 14, 2015
Since you are only there for a weekend I would suggest the Aerobic corridor in Morin Heights. It's only a ten minute drive from St Sauveur and you can go about 70km. West on the coridor. Another alternative is drive to Lac des Seize Ile (Sixteen Island Lake ) 30/35km on the 364 and walk the corridor in the east direction and if you like there is a shuttle on the lake that you can take for a fee and really get a look at the changing colors.
Another alternative if you are looking for a tougher walk up and down hills but groomed for hiking and mountain biking drive to Newego (Lac Sainte Francois Xavier) there is a nice trail there around the lake.
I am sure you can find all this on the Internet or get the info from your hotel.
Enjoy, Pete
Have a great weekend and please respect the environment and the privacy of others.
