Our experience with this company was excellent from beginning to end. The person we spoke to in the office was perfect at explaining everything we needed to know and sorting out the transactions seamlessly, and our guide Fin (hi Fin's mom!) was great too. He showed us how to skip enormous rocks, and seals, and a mink, and knew lots about the flora, fauna, and rocks. Jokes and stories all along the way, and professional paddling instruction whenever we asked. We had a really great trip and enjoyed it.

My wife and I were visiting Lunenberg for a few days from Ontario. My wife is a kayaker, recreationally in small rivers around our town. I enjoy canoeing on camping trips on small lakes in provincial parks. Neither of us had ever been in a sea Kayak, but both are competent paddlers.

Pleasant Paddling was amazing. Show up, there is more than enough staff to get everyone set up quickly and efficiently. The equipment is top notch, and the service is great. Everyone in all of the groups got their kayak, their paddle, life vest, and a quickly and easily. The organization (which is something that can make or break a tour for me!) was very professional. They knew who was in what group with what tour guide, and gave very clear and timely instruction so that we weren't standing on land any longer than we needed to.

Getting everyone on the water with a limited launch could provide some trouble, but they make it look easy, and before you know it you're off!

Our guide Kira was outstanding. Along with my wife we had a mom/daughter duo both in solos and another couple in a tandem.

Kira was great at setting a pace that everyone could keep, while nobody was waiting around. People could find some space if they wanted to go a little faster and nobody was left behind. Kira would watch and make sure we were close enough as a group, while also making sure everyone was having a good time and was comfortable.

Kira's passion for kayaking, the sea, the region is immediately evident. She's very personable and provides an excellent tour. We were able to see a few seal heads pop up out of the water, and the scenery was amazing.

Certainly recommend this to anyone who enjoys kayaking. The sea kayak was very easy to handle with our reasonable level of experience.

I'm not very flexible, and I'm a little bit plus size (6' 230) and sitting in that position isn't easy for me (it's the reason I prefer canoeing, kneeling is more comfortable me) and I was the only one in the group that the 4 hour tour was a little too long for. That's all my wife's fault though for wanting to see the seals and not signing us up for one of the shorter tours. The four hours was a perfect length tour for everyone else in our group, so I am definitely the outlier.

My sister and I decided, quite last minute, to travel to Nova Scotia for the 4 day, 3 night, Inn to Inn Kayaking trip and had the most wonderful time! Pleasant Paddling took care of all the details: booking us into beautiful Bed & Breakfast Inns, providing delicious, (often homemade or from local bakeries), morning and afternoon snacks and lunches, and making reservations at amazing restaurants for dinner, as well as shuttling us to the various locations. The kayaking experience was incredible! The guides, Carl, Kira and ? (sorry) were extremely helpful with assistance when necessary, tips for comfortable kayaking and full of interesting information about the areas we were paddling through. The weather was spectacular and the ocean was very calm, except for one windy afternoon. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and highly recommend this trip!

Pleasant Paddling is a small kayaking outfit a short distance from Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. We arrived in the picturesque village of Blue Rocks, and as the fog slowly lifted we decided to rent a double kayak for 2 hours. The water was calm and the area sheltered from the open sea. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and our experience was peaceful and lovely. My partner has some difficulty with his back and the staff were very helpful in assisting him in and out of the kayak. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Nova Scotia. The company also offers guided tours and if we had more time and more people that would have been very fun. If you go to the little village of Blue Rocks, be sure to check out the local artists' studios.

What a great experience with this Outfitters in Blue Rocks NS.
Our family of four did the afternoon sea-kayaking tour with Lucas. He was so knowledgeable about the area, entertaining throughout the tour and when my teenager with autism wanted to try her hand at a single kayak after our break, he was so patient, kind and encouraging.
We saw some blue heron, a surprise siting of many harbour seals, and learned a little about the area. Thank you Lucas and Pleasant Paddling for a great experience. Well Done!

Our guide, Kira, was very knowledgeable on the area and down-to-earth, explaining as we went. Her expertise made the tour informative, as well as maintaining a well paced paddle among the islands. We got to watch seal pups playing in the fog and pass through a tidal passage on our return to Blue Rocks. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a different way to explore the ocean and in the Lunenburg area. Even beginners with minimal paddling knowledge will be put at ease if you are lucky enough to get Kira as your guide.

My husband and I went on the “Paddle to the Seals” tour with Carson. We had a fantastic tour and Carson was a wonderful guide. The tour was about four hours, with lots of stops for breaks, sightseeing and some cookies. We were able to see islands and sights you’d never be able to see in a bigger boat, and seeing the seals up close was a highlight. Our guide was great! He provided a demo of how to paddle, steer, and stay safe in the boats and on the water, made sure we were comfortable the whole time, paced the tour to suit us, and provided lots of interesting commentary along the way with information on what we were seeing, some Nova Scotia/ Lunenburg and Blue Rocks history and anecdotes. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to see some hidden gems in Nova Scotia!

We did this 4 or 5 years ago and this time when we were out there on holidays our Nova Scotia friends came with us and we all enjoyed it a lot. Our guides were Philip and Kiera and were informative on local nature etc and encouraging as they helped us when the winds got challenging. Recommend and would do it again!

Pleasant Paddling came highly recommended and we were not disappointed. The experience was fabulous. It was a great way to see the islands and coves of Blue Rock. I was the nervous paddler of the group of 12 but I need not have worried. Keira and Carson were great guides and provided support and informative narration. We will definitely do this again! Highly recommended.

If you're traveling to Lunenburg, don't miss a 2-hour, half, or full day kayak tour with Pleasant Paddling! Karl Marsters has spared no expense to secure top notch equipment and to provide a safe environment for your outdoor enjoyment. I have sea-kayaked during vacations on three continents, and Karl's operation is the most professional I've encountered! lnstruction is provided for neophytes to seasoned paddlers, and my boyfriend, who was reticent about the experience, can't wait to get back on the water. Karl is the most mellow instructor I've ever met, and he has an uncanny ability to connect with anyone he meets and teach them at their level. A multitude of pristine islands formed the archipelago playground amdist which we paddled. The scenery is breathtaking. While the town of Lunenberg is quaint, being on the water along the blue rocks, with the Atlantic surf roaring in the background, is incomparable to being on foot. The numerous channels are mostly buffered from the currents, rendering it fairly flat, at least on the day we kayaked. Take a break from the tourists and enjoy some time on the water!
