We had a great time taking a 2 hour sailboat ride in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Owned by a family who operate a local B & B and skippered by the son, the trip was a highlight of our visit even though it was chilly in October. Our captain knew his boat, the harbor and the history of the area. The scenery was beautiful, and the boat is in great shape. Well worth the C$27 price (2006)! During the season, the boat takes three scheduled trips a day if there are six interested passengers. In the "shoulder" season we had to get a little lucky with passengers and the weather - and we were!

We sailed on a sunny sunset cruise with only 13 people on board. The ship is a beautiful wooden ketch and we enjoyed sailing under full sails. The skipper and his deck hand did an excellent job by explaining everything around us but also asked people to join in with hoisting the sails or taking the helm. Instead of 2 hours we almost cruised 2 1/2 and enjoyed every minute of it. I had some correspondence with the company before hand as this was a surprise gift for my husband's birthday. They were quick with their answers and everything was organized nicely by e-mail in advance.

This trip was the highlight of our visit, seeing Lunenburg from the water without the noise of an engine was amazing. The guides had lots of knowledge of the history and sights and were great with the kids. It was very interactive, got to take the wheel "helm" of the boat and feel the wind propel us along. The boat glides along silently and leans slightly with the wind, got to help raise a sail. The sunset nice seen over the water. Would do it again!

Great day on the ocean. The weather couldn't have been better - the crew were gracious hosts and very knowledgeable about the area. This is a must if you visit this wonderful town!

The tour took 2 hours in the Lunenburg bay only. Nothing exciting. The crew were careless and rude. Regretted for giving up a lobster dinner for it.

This was the highlight of our trip to Nova Scotia. We did the afternoon sail on the last day of out 10 day vacation and there could not have been a better way to end it. Captain Keith is a great guy who takes pride in his beautiful sailboat and the area. He allowed my husband and others to take the helm and never flinched! The scenery and the weather were amazing. Being sailboat owners , it was a great sail! Would recommend it to all!!

Built on the old English model for laying out towns. Houses still lived in got back to the 1700's.
The harbor itself was a major fishing and sailing port. The Bluenose schooner and several tall ships can frequently be moored up at the docks. An impressive memorial of the countless fishermen who have been lost at sea. A lot of the houses are painted a variety of bright colors. I love the town.

We sailed on Eastern Star for the third time during our Lunenburg vacation. Our previous salings were daytime but this time we took the evening sailin. It was a perfect trip! Some wind on the way out to the Ovens gave us a real sailing experience while the return was in full view of a spectacular sunset. The skipper was engaging and knowledgeable about his home port and his boat. Excellent value too!

I took my wife, son of 6yrs, and my parents their 70s for a sail the last day of our week-long trip to Nova Scotia.

We went for the sunset sail (6:30-8:30ish), and we lucked into beautiful weather and strong winds too - perfect conditions.

Every one of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience (a first for all of us) and full marks to Keith the captain, who was a real pleasure to sail with and a true gentleman.
