This is a place that holds such rich history. You learn so much from the displays! They set up the pricing in a weird way though. There is the regular fee- you get admission to the main building and the first floor of his house only. The enhanced one you get o view the second floor, see a 10 minute... More

It was located in the residential area but very educational and lots to learn. I am glad I took my teenage children. They have learned the base of Canadian Health Care system and also humanitarian.

For anyone that has spent anytime in China, visiting Bethune's home is a must. Bethune is so revered there that it is not uncommon for people in China to mention his name immediately after learning someone is Canadian. The museum is tasteful and informative with plenty of interesting details. I went with a 6, 9, 11, and 14 year old.... More

We dropped by on the way to visit this heritage museum and tribute to a truly great and selfless man. The museum isn't large but it packs a lot of key highlights of Bethune's life and his medical achievements and his selfless giving to help the Chinese during the war. We learned a lot and spent nearly 3 hours reading... More

Admittedly, I remember very little about Dr. Norman Bethune from my Canadian history classes. The museum and adjacent memorial house where Bethune grew up were a good local attraction in Gravenhurst. You will probably spend about 1 hour here if you take the time to read most of the things on the walls and displays.

I made a lengthy detour during a stay in Toronto to visit the childhood home of one of my heroes, Dr. Bethune. Upon arrival, I was offered several options for my visit: among them, a self-guided tour and a guided tour. The guided tour was double the cost of the self-guided tour, and so I opted for the latter. But... More

The Bethune house was interesting to look at as a historical and cultural view of how our better off grandparents might have lived. The time frame is close enough that you relate to some of the features in the house. The museum was very interesting. I knew about Bethune but i didnt realize how innovative he was. Worth a stop... A little disappointed there was not more depth and detail in the life of this great man in the museum's presentation. It seemed a little slick and shallow. However, worth seeing if you're into history. The house he was born in is typical of it's period and worth seeing for that alone.
