A Landmark
Aug. 2018 • Couples
The Gravenhurst Opera House is well worth a visit. We've been to several productions - all very professionally done. The musicals are the best! The trip is worth it just to see the old, landmark theater.

Excellent performances this season!
Aug. 2017
This season we bought tickets to a few performances. Leona Boyd performed here in July. Concerts, comedy theater, musical performances. Just saw 'Swing'. It was amazing - talented dancers and singing with a local 5-piece band. Excellent piano playing, clarinet, sax, drums horn and base. Don't miss it. On till August 25. Tickets are about $40.

Jam Sandwich
Mar. 2017 • Family
March Break and my Sister and I took her Grandson to see the musical duo Jam Sandwich! What a delightful visit we had in your grand Opera House and how delightfully we were entertained. The children were fully engaged in the singing and dancing but not to be left out, so we're the happy adults. Thank you for the lovely afternoon, and a special mention to your kind and knowledgeable volunteers. We will be back....is tomorrow soon enough...Cheers!

Superb historic venue for a conference or a show!
Oct. 2016 • Business
I recently attended a wellness conference at the Gravenhurst opera House and was taken aback at the beautiful architecture and stained glass windows. The sound quality in the theatre was superb, the beamed vaulted ceilings were divine! The sound quality was excellent, state of the art which was surprising for such a rural location.

Top-Notch Entertainment
Oct. 2016 • Couples
We were lucky to catch the play "Wake Me When It's Over", a hilarious romantic comedy, and the next night, the Johnny Max band with singer Cheryl Lescomb. The Gravenhurst Opera House is the perfect size for the audience - not too close, not too far away from the stage. And the downstairs meeting area with bar is an additional plus for before theatre drinks and intermission. The volunteers are very helpful, and there's even an elevator for wheelchair users. Highly recommended evening entertainment!

We went to see a music concert - Alex Pangman. Really enjoyed it
Great venue. Nice size for this.
We want to see some plays this summer.
Only downside, the seats could be more comfortable.

Fly me to the moon
Jul. 2015 • Friends
A group of us attended this excellent play yesterday. The inside of the theater was not what I expected but it was still very nice. The seats were comfortable. The 2 ladies put on a terrific show. It was very funny but several of our group could not understand their accents. May be some of them because they were a bit deaf !!!

It was very short but entertaining. It started at 2.30, had a break for 15 minutes at 3.15. It finished at 4.10.

My friend asked one of the staff if they sold water. He asked her for $2 and went downstairs and brought it back up to her.

It was a pleasant ending to our day.

Hello Damien, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Opera House. We're quite pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable time and that it was a pleasant experience. Those Belfast, Irish accents can be tough at times - we're sorry to hear that you might have missed some of the text from the show. We hope that despite the heavy accents and pace of the dialogue that you were still able to make out the story. You did also mention that some of your party might have had some challenges around hearing, and for that we do recommend picking up some of our Assistive Listening Devices from our Box Office. These are commonly used for anyone who has difficulty with hearing and are a great resource to our patrons. Let us know during your next visit and we'll be sure to provide these for you. Thanks again for sharing and we look forward to seeing you at the theatre again sometime soon. Have a wonderful day!
