I went there with my editor Sheila Morrison, who died shortly after the visit. She had deployed several boxes containing 20 of my books around bookstores in Nova Scotia. Many of the bookstores closed and my books
were lost. The day I "launched" my book in Amherst at the Museum, it rained, but about ten people attended
and I sold one or two books. It is the story of my mother's families, Blenkhorns and Reads early settlers from
the ship "Two Friends" from Yorkshire in the 1770's. Long ago...not May 2022.

This museum houses a lot of our towns rare artifacts. I was very impressed with so many articles. One has to go upstairs to see all of them.

As my grandmother Hickey worked here, I was very interested in the old pictures, however, I did not see her in any of them.

I was also acting as Sir Charles Tupper on one occasion and his hope was on Victoria St. in Amherst.

Great little local museum containing lots of interesting artefacts from local businesses. Our guide was highly informative and able to answer all of our questions. Presently hosting a temporary exhibition on Canada’s Internment Camps which is also worth a look.

So nice to visit the little town museum. They are more quaint and warm compared to some of the larger city museums. Lovely staff. Highly recommend.

I've never been able to get up as close and personal with objects as I was in this museum. Talk about a walk back in time. There is soooo much to look at and so much information in one place. Did I say that 4 of us visited for $5 family rate? I understand that this museum is running on a small budget, so the only thing that would have been nice would be small descriptors of some of the things i'm looking at. Great location and a true hidden gem. If you want local, Cumberland County, Amherst NS history, this is the place.

Located in the home of RB Dickie, one of the architects of Canada in 1867, this museum offers a good insight into the more than 350 years of European settlement in the Head of Fundy region. Good compliment to a visit to Fort Beausejour if you are looking for info on out Canadian journey. Excellent genealogy resources too.
