About
A Rug Hooking Studio where you can learn the art of rug hooking in just a few minutes. It is a haven for fibre artists, knitters, rug hookers, and any one who loves wool. You can visit us, learn how to hook rugs and have tea and oatcakes. Deanne is recognized world wide for her rugs and has written seven books. The studio sells her rugs as well as kits and supplies for rug hooking.

As the sidekick to the actual shopper, I was charmed by the beautiful "rugs" on display and the very friendly clerk who offered oatcakes and tea--delicious.

We visited Deanne’s place for the second time, having made a special visit out from Moncton because we loved it the previous time. The staff are lovely and warm and so very helpful. My girls learned how to hook from Deanne during our last visit and they enjoyed the feast for the eyes that this store is!! The amazing colours, textures and artwork are bar none, something to behold. I love visiting this store! Thank you for giving us hookers our own « tourist stop » and inspiring us!

What a great little shop. Gorgeous artwork. The staff gives you a tour and was eager to offer a lesson. My young adult son and i had a ball.it is not too hard to do. Bought a kit to take home! Very excited to give it a whirl!
Also the oatcakes are delicious! They give you the recipe. Fun little stop

I was visiting Halifax and decided to rent a car and make the trek from Halifax to Amherst to check this store out, and I am so glad that I did. My husband and I received the warmest possible welcome and, even though it was clear that there was a lot going on in the store (making kits, dyeing wool and re-organizing, etc.), everyone made us feel at home and answered my questions about dyeing and choosing a rug hook, etc. Everyone was so generous with their time and genuinely friendly! We were given a tour of the premises and came away feeling like we had been visiting with friends instead of actually visiting a store. Even my husband...who doesn’t usually come with me on these excursions ...enjoyed himself. This visit was good for my soul and will definitely become a regular pilgrimage!

When you walk into this store you feel inspired. The yarns and designs are truly breathtaking.
I wanted to just touch everything and roll in some yarn. Anyone can feel inspirtd in this store.
I walked out with 2 kits, a book and 4 cards. Loved loved loved it

This is such a great store for crafty people to go visit. If you need a new hobby stop in and learn how to do rug hooking. Deanne will teach you and she has beautiful rugs on display and the staff is super friendly and knows what they’re talking about.

What an amazing studio/shop. Deanne Fitzpatrick's studio is somewhere you should make a trip to, even if you are not into rug-hooking. So much colour and inspiration, plus lovely staff in a relaxing environment. Supplies, kits, ideas and more. Just a lovely place to visit and, you never know, buy a kit to start out as a hooker. A real highlight on any visit to this part of Nova Scotia.

This store has so much to look at it’s overwhelming, in a good way. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The rugs on display are real nice. Almost like walking into an art gallery. Such a colourful store. Seems to be a real happy place to work. We will be back.

It is a pleasure to visit Deanne’s studio. The staff are friendly and helpful and it’s always inspiring to talk with Deanne when visiting there. The studio is filled with wonderful wool and yarn and the colors and displayed hooked rugs create exciting surroundings. It is a warm and inviting environment and there is always someone to instruct or help with any questions. Love going there!

Thoroughly enjoyed our getaway. Booked this retreat a year ago after friends came home raving about Deanne and her shop/studio. Wool heaven. Stayed with Rhonda at the Apothic Inn. Amazing. Had fun and learned lots. Thank you.
