The petroglyph tour was very informative and gives an immersion in the Nuxalk culture and their tradition. The guides were singing traditional songs in their beautiful language. The drawings and carvings on the rock tell us their story from the beginning of the world passing from generation to generation. It was incredible, I even had the change to dip myself 4 times in the River! The next day we did a totem tour, telling the meaning and stories behind the carvings and shapes on a cedar totem. Both were amazing!

If you visit Bella Coola and do not take the Petroglyph tour offered by Copper Sun Gallery you have missed the primary reason for going to this stunning part of the world second only to the bears in August and September. We had Zack as our guide and as a tour guide myself I was blown away by his detailed knowledge of the subject and the affable manner in which he passed his knowledge to us right down to a very personal drum and song performance. We saw a family doing the walk on their own and I could not help but feel sorry for them in not realizing how much fascinating information they were missing.
