- Tracy SVictoria, Canada2 contributionsThe only way to experience the petroglyphs. Absolutely incredible. The petroglyph tour was beyond incredible and an absolute privilege to be able to observe and experience this sacred site. A place like this needs to be accompanied with stories and wisdom, and the Nuxalkmc guides at Copper Sun bring this. Through language, song, sharing of personal experience and knowledge passed down through generations, it's more than just "seeing the petroglyphs", it's bearing witness to an ancestral and spiritual realm that is felt at a soul level. Absolutely, 100%, highly recommend booking a tour with Copper Sun. Stutwiniitscw. Thank you so much.Visited July 2022Written July 18, 2022
- Angela ABurnaby, Canada8 contributionsPetroglyph tour, totem tour, both amazing! The petroglyph tour was very informative and gives an immersion in the Nuxalk culture and their tradition. The guides were singing traditional songs in their beautiful language. The drawings and carvings on the rock tell us their story from the beginning of the world passing from generation to generation. It was incredible, I even had the change to dip myself 4 times in the River! The next day we did a totem tour, telling the meaning and stories behind the carvings and shapes on a cedar totem. Both were amazing!Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten July 8, 2023
- Gord P2 contributionsNot To Be MissedIf you visit Bella Coola and do not take the Petroglyph tour offered by Copper Sun Gallery you have missed the primary reason for going to this stunning part of the world second only to the bears in August and September. We had Zack as our guide and as a tour guide myself I was blown away by his detailed knowledge of the subject and the affable manner in which he passed his knowledge to us right down to a very personal drum and song performance. We saw a family doing the walk on their own and I could not help but feel sorry for them in not realizing how much fascinating information they were missing.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten August 13, 2023

We went on the petroglyph tour, it was really wonderful. The guides are friendly, know their stuff, and explain it well! Seeing these ancient carvings in such beautiful forest is something I'll never forget. If you're passing by Bella Coola, it would be a real shame not to do this tour!

we did a tour with a guide along ancient rock carvings with our teen daughter and my wife. the story of the site and the information about the history of the indigenous people in the Bella Coola Valley added so much to our trip and is absolutely something that should not be missed when you are in the area. the site itself is as impressive as famous ancient sites in Europe.

We were led on an amazing tour of the petroglyphs by Sheldon who provided important/relevant historical and cultural context about the Nuxult Nation. He also discussed Nuxalt spirituality, art and music. It was a truly unforgettable experience. Very highly recommended!

T'uka was an incredible story teller. He was intelligent, passionate and charismatic. I was thrilled to see the petroglyphs and I feel you get so much more out of the experience hearing the stories that go with each of the carvings. It is expensive.

The Petroglyph tour was really worthwhile. As a settler, the fact that we have access to see this sacred place and have knowledgable folks share the story and culture is really a privilege. Our guide, Sheldon, took us through the history of the area and his personal story and was very generous with his hard earned cultural knowledge.

Our guide was very friendly and the petroglyphs are worth seeing. Overall, I'm happy my 3 kids had the opportunity to visit this place. However, the reason I can't provide a stronger rating is due to the cost of the tour. I understand this is a small remote community that depends on seasonal tourism to support the economy, but the price ($400) for myself and my 3 kids was excessive and didn't provide good value. I've been very fortunate to travel to quite a few different places and see a lot of amazing sites. Expensive is ok, I've come to expect it, but this was beyond expensive in my respectful opinion.
Beautiful location, friendly guide and a very interesting place, they just need to readjust their pricing to provide better value.

Very friendly indigenous guide. Learn a lot about the history and practices from the 2hr Petroglyph tour. Grateful that they share their stories and song from their culture.
