I went to the little coffee shop at the entry to Sovereign Island for a coffee catch up with a couple of friends. It was a nice experience but did not get a chance to return until a couple of weeks ago.
When we got there we discovered it is now closed permanently.

Sovereign Island is located at the Northern end of the Gold Coast at the very end of Paradise Point suburb, and is only accessible by a single bridge separating the island from the mainland. Entry is free; gates are open daily from 6am to 10pm.
Sovereign Island is home to Grant Torrens Marina, located at the Village Centre at the entrance to the island, and its magnificent boats are the first thing you see when crossing the bridge towards the island. There is also a small coffee shop at the entrance, where you can buy coffee, drinks or snacks, a real estate office and a hair salon.
The rest of the island consists of residential houses, and this is why most tourists come here - to see some of the most amazing houses in the Gold Coast and Australia. You can drive through the streets for hours and be amazed by the size and architecture of palatial waterfront homes. A Malaysian princess owns a house in Regents Court, and mining magnate Clive Palmer has a house here, too.
The island is divided into six smaller islands, each connected to others by a bridge. There are many beautiful parks with waterfalls and fountains, which usually have no one enjoying them. There is plenty of parking everywhere, so feel free to get out and go for a walk. (Public bathroom is behind the cafe at the back of the office building at the entrance; more bathrooms are in Paradise Point Park on mainland.)
If you wonder what's inside these magnificent homes, on weekends they have what's called "open homes" for houses that are listed for sale, so if you drive around on Saturday or Sunday from 10am to 3pm, some houses will be "open" by real estate agents and you can walk in and see the homes inside (you will be required to register your details with the agent).
Sovereign Island is very pretty; some call it "Australian Riviera". If you are on the Gold Coast, it's well worth a trip.
Best seen during day light. Very close to Paradise Point shops and restaurants and Paradise Point Beach, just a 2-minute drive - you can combine a day at the beach and a tour of Sovereign Island. Enjoy!

Take the drive if you want to see some extraordinary examples of domestic architecture.
Be tickled pink by the quaint street names. Call in afterwards at a café at Paradise Point and check out the bargains offered by the local Real Estate agents.

This is a truly amazing place to live. The island is quiet, and friendly, and offers a safe and interesting place to walk around. There are so many fantastic houses to look at while you wander. There is security that drive around all day and night keeping a watchful eye on everything. The parks are well maintained and perfect for walking your pooches.
You can have your breakfast and the Dolphins swim lazily past your back door where else can you get that.
Truly an oasis

The Sovereign Islands are the epitome of the Gold Coast: big. Brash, overpriced and over mortgaged.
Many of the houses are rentals or second/third homes so driving around you hardly see anyone. The waterways are really narrow so you can hear conversations that your neighbours over the water are having and share the music with several of them, whether you like it or not.
This is the place to show how much money you, or your bank, has and many of the houses are in really bad taste.
There are a handful of truly magnificent homes, mostly owned by people whose main residences are in Europe or Asia.
And of course there are the bad-taste houses with the pimped up cars on the driveway that make you wonder where the money to pay for those came from.
By all means have a drive around-it won’t take long. Just don’t expect anyone to smile or wave; it’s not that kind of place.

Opposite Ephraim island on the northern coast you will be amazed at the beauty of the island. Most of the mansions have huge motor cruisers out the back worth more than an average house for the working class.
I love King Arthur court as it has great house architecture in the houses and faces surfers so the view down the Broadwater to the city is the best on the coast.

Mansions, mansions, mansions & mansions!
Well worth a drive over the bridge and around the island to check out how the other half live!
There are also some good boat tours that will take you around to look at the mansions from the water.
It really is spectacular to see sovereign islands. There are strict building codes for the islands, which has created a unique magnificent looking estate!
Go check it out, and buy your self a lotto ticket after!

The island was developed as a security complex wit some stunning large homes on it. Many have a beautiful view over the water and almost all of the have their own moorings.

How much do the annual levies, security and revetment wall costs add up to pa approximately. I think it is based on the value of your property.

Sorry unable to help with this one. Best contact any real estate agen in Paradise Point which is the gateway to Soveign Islands. I imagine fees and levies will depend on property price but all of the properties are upmarket and expensive. Google RE agents paradise point for information. all the best
