Birthday gift for my wife
Jan. 2018 • Friends
I wanted a unique gift for her 70 th birthday and choose a photograph , mounted on a plywood board of a Great Gray Owl, wings spread, clutching a hare, flying towards the photographer. It was taken in Algonquin Park in 2012 by renowned photographer, Dan Busby.

Diamond In The Rough
Aug. 2017 • Couples
Around the corner from the main intersection in the Town of Haliburton is located this jewel of artistic delight. Though unremarkable on the outside, this store changes dramatically once you take the few steps up from the sidewalk, open the front door and enter. Inside, a delightful combination of artwork of many different kinds crafted by mainly local artists is complimented by a varied selection of handicrafts, jewelry, specialty cards, carvings, and assorted, one-of-a-kind knick-knacks.

Ambling liesurely through this treasure-trove is a memorable experience. One that was made even more interesting when my wife spotted a small, but wonderful framed photograph of a bluejay hanging upside down from a tree branch and asked the store curator about it. It was shot by Dan Busby, a local bird enthusiast in 2014. Having fallen in love with the jay, my wife bought it. We spent some more time browsing before bidding adieu to this enchanting gallery.

If you are ever in Haliburton or in the surrounding area, a visit to the Ethel Curry Gallery is highly recommended.

Excellent art from local artists

This is a very fine art gallery - one of the few remaining private galleries around. There is a lot of stunning artwork displayed with taste and knowledge. The people that work there really know their art and it is owned and operated by a proud woodworking artist.

It has every form of artwork imaginable and from the whole range of costs from a few dollars to a few thousand dollars. Artist entry to the gallery is carefully controlled and only first rate work can be found there.

Fabulous Gallery

Always dropping by at least once a month. Works are updated regularly. Quality variety of works, very professional and supportive to the arts. Knowledgable guidance and appreciative commentary from staff will give the curious, novice or experienced collector confidence in making prospective choices whether for personal needs or gifting.

One of the loveliest things to do in Haliburton

This is a small gallery, but it is rich with diversity of art in all its forms from paintings to drawings to wood items to knitted items to jewelry. The floor to ceiling windows make it light and inviting. The staff are always so pleasant and knowledgeable. I pop in may 3 times a years and am always impressed by the standard of the stuff there.

What a beautiful assortment of paintings, sculptures, handmade jewellery, stained glass, etc. We couldn't decide on which one to buy this trip.

There is a very wide range of items in the gallery at varying prices to suit most pockets. They are well displayed and staff are happy to let you browse but willing to help and advise if you ask.

Prepare to be Impressed
Feb. 2016 • Solo
This gallery knows how to celebrate original art. All of the information you need without any high brow attitude. It's very refreshing to find so many mediums at one time at one location. AND they are happy to let you browse on your own, if that's what you want to do!!
