The boat launch / grassy picnic area is a great launching or way-point for a day's canoe/kayak trip on the Nicomekl river/Mud bay. The rest of the property is also a great place for a walk in the woods, or around the original farmhouse. Definitely an important historical part of Surrey's history.

This is a fabulous little gem of history just outside Vancouver. It's free and there's good parking. You can wander round the house, barns and grounds and there are some lovely trails to walk with fabulous views of the mountains and river. It would be a great place to take a picnic in the warm months. Lots of history and not too much to read. All in all a great experience for all ages

This historic farmhouse and it’s surroundings should appeal to all ages. We visited when there was a model train exhibit. The farmhouse was open to visitors, and there guides inside to answer questions. Cookies and lemonade were served.
The property sits along the Nikomekl River, and there are some interesting walking trails nearby. Lots of historical items to see as well.

The location is lovely, along a river and with open spaces for gatherings, surrounded by forested areas with hiking trails through the forest and along the river. This event was family oriented and was well attended by a diverse group of all ages. We enjoyed the music, the mini pumpkin muffins, the freshly made butter on crackers, the story that the house and area tells. There were games for the children that brought out the child in all of us and it was a joy to see both children laughing and playing in the orchard, or to see elderly throwing a bean bag also with laughter and big smiles. While there was a good number of attendees, you didn't feel crowded, and you could walk away to watch the activity on the river and take in the surrounding beauty. A wonderful way to spend a day. We have attended other events hosted at The Stewart Farm House and have enjoyed each and every one. The programs offered are great, whether at Christmas, or attending a "tea" in the farm kitchen event... it's always fun!! The sunsets sitting on a bench looking over the river are amazing...come and check it out!

So my Wife says to me let's go on a picnic and I want to go to Stewart Farm. Well sitting in a field smelling " eau de cow" is not my idea of a great afternoon but it is a lot quieter if I go along with it. This farm is only a mile or so from the house so only a few minutes away if I decide to bail on this effort.
We pull into a parking lot and their is a large old farm house well painted and they are offering guided tours which turns out to be well done and brings you back to a simpler easier time on the farm. We then walk out to what was an orchard with all of our stuff and find a picnic table which just happens to be next to the Nickelmekel River in South Surrey. There is a boat launch and small marina as well as a rowing club.
Boats are going up and down the river of all sizes where owners come from 1 percenters to just off poverty row.
Here is the fun part. I have my binocs with me and it is a riot watching people trying to back up their boats and launching. Jack knifing and the hollering from Husband to Wife and back was better than going to a movie. One guy forgot to set his brake and the truck was in the river over the truckbed before he jumped back in.
It is free for the farm with a small donation and a small fee to launch there.
Most fun I have had in some time. No "eau de cow" either. Great day

Founded in the 1800's by early BC pioneers, take the tour of the partially restored house. It's pretty-much the same as the original in design and tone. The old wood-stove in the kitchen is stunning in it's practical functionality and yet elegant grace. they cook up some mean dishes right there on the spot and the house smells Soooo good. Outside, visit the small mill and especially the garden and old root cellar where winter provisions were stored. The lawn sweeps down to the ocean blessed with a mountain of oysters ( though not recommended for eating). The Nicomekl river flows in from the right (east) and meets the tide coming in from the west. You have to watch to see which way it's flowing .It's a peaceful summer stop and good place for a picnic.

Popped by one day and were able to tour the house and grounds. I hope one day to enjoy a tea time with their baked goodies I’ve heard about if they offer this again one day.
