The West Van Seawall is a well-maintained walk along the seaside that undulates through the villages of Ambleside and Dundarave. Hugging the northern shore of English Bay, it is never the same walk twice, and there is always something to see. It is enjoyable in any weather; just dress appropriately. My only complaint (and I am a long-time West Vancouver resident) is that dogs are not allowed; to my mind, this petulant bylaw must be reconsidered.

Always loved this walk. Not quite as great as it used to be because most of the tile art on the rocks has washed away, and the driftwood sea monster and stump chairs are gone as well. Also gets very busy so best to go early. The dog path is dtill there on the other side of the fence, what a cool feature!

A favourite walk while visiting Vancouver, especially when leaving the snowy winter of Calgary. It's a nice flat walk, gentle for those with fragile hips. Views of the ocean, the ships, the birds and the people always make it interesting. Pleasant to walk either in the sun or in the fog.

Great place to walk in Vancouver. The cruise ships are often important, and sightseeing sea planes are coming in going. There are many restaurants and cafes, gelato shops, bars, etc. It can be warm here in the afternoon. About a mile down the seawall is Stanley Park. There is a dedicated bike lane that connects to the park. I found this one of the more pleasant areas of Vancouver.

Great walk with amazing views of downtown and Stanley Park and of course right on the ocean. Best part is no crowds. Everyone on this seawall says hello and smiles at you. No racing bicycles to contend with either.

We love this location, this is one of the nicest walks, I think, in the lower mainland. You can even catch the bus to get here if you don't have a car. (First of all, the photos that other people have attached for this attraction are not of West Van, but mistakenly of Stanley Park in the West End of Vancouver).
Ambleside at the east end of the seawall has the feel of a quaint beach side town. Walk west, past Lawson Park along the seawall with no fear of cyclists or rollerbladers, as they are not allowed on the seawall. There is a separate off - leash doggy path next to the seawall for your pet to walk on - what a novel idea. Walk past all the interesting apartment buildings including the lovely Pink Palace on your way to the village of Dundarave, some 25 minutes. Along this walk we have seen the occasional sea otter & the more common bald eagle. As you approach Dundarave you come upon beach access and the pier to walk out on. Then walk the block up the hill to Dundarave, another quaint village of shops, stop at one of the many coffee shops, before returning to the seawall for you return trip back.
What a great way to pass an afternoon by.

My first day in Vancouver I rented a bike and took the Seawall Promenade around the perimeter of the city. It's an inexpensive, relaxing, and healthy way to take in the sights and sounds in and around the area.
My seawall journey took me past Coal Harbour, Burrard Inlet, English Bay, around False Creek, and over to Kitsilano Beach. Stop off at Granville Island for a mid-cruise break before journeying back to your point of origin.

This is one of the most spectacular walks in the Lower Mainland. OK the seawall around Stanley Park is pretty spectacular as well. If you are in West Vancouver and have some time to enjoy the outdoors you must walk this seawall. You will see seals, birds, all kinds of shore life, all sorts of people and dogs of every type. One end is the mouth of the Capilano River where salmon come back to spawn to the other end where there is a wonderful restaurant to enjoy a meal and a cold beer or glass of wine. Look among the rocks for art work, sometimes there is an art exhibit along the way, kids play area, art gallery, yacht club, concession stand, dog park, pitch and putt and of course easy access to shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, watching the cruise ships depart the harbour and so much more. Morning, afternoon or evenings to watch the amazing sunsets you won't be disappointed you took the time to walk the West Vancouver seawall!

There are restaurants and shops on and nearby. Very quiet and picturesque- could use as a bike path for small children or just a nice place for an afternoon stroll. Pretty gardens and some places for great photos on a rocky beach with lots of birds etc. Bring your camera and a good hat! It gets a little chilly in the winter.

One of the best walks in the city! From Dundarave to Ambleside Beach and back. Stop at the Beach House Restaurant for happy hour. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
