Stopped here whilst travelling Banff to Calgary on the scenic 1a route. Had hoped it would be an interesting stop. Unfortunately despite the opening hours on the museum displayed as 1-4pm on a Wednesday(when we visited) it was still slowed at 1.20pm.
We were out the car for less than 10mins, reading signs and trying to figure out if there was anything worth seeing.
There are major road works taking place right next to this and no one seems to use the area.
No Facilities at all.
On our flight out of Calgary sat next to a lady who lives in Cochrane and said how disappointed we were with this stop, she told us no one in the town is using it because of the two cougars roaming there! Signs for visitors would be helpful!

We stopped here for a short walk while traveling from Calgary to Banff. We enjoyed walking the well marked trails, and had a wonderful chat with the attendant in the museum, whose grandparents had originally homesteaded in the area. Definitely a worthwhile stop to stretch the legs. Well maintained porta potties too :)

We did a lovely walk around the Cochrane Ranch which had a nice creek going through it! We even saw the Grandmother Tree which was really pretty, there are toilets around here and a the cool sculpture with the man and horse. We walked for around 2.5km and it was very easy! It’s very exposed in some areas so make sure you are sun smart and you can sit and have a lovely picnic in the area!

Visited with my toddler for a hike upon recommendation. We made our way through a few short trails but found it a bit disappointing the museum was closed. I was unsure of how long of trails it would be to get up to the top where the look out was so we didn’t go. I read after it would’ve been nice to see. I didn’t see any posted trail maps so I was trying to follow my phone which takes away from the hiking. I was also trying to find the grandfather tree (which I want to say we did given the comparison pictures online) but nothing was posted to indicate the actual tree. Overall it was a good experience with lot of trail options.

We visited this park for a walk on Sunday morning. Really pleased we did as there are several well marked paths to follow that take you up to the top of the park and back down through the trees.
There is a car park just off the main road and washrooms which were exceptionally clean.
There is also a small museum close to the car park that is well worth a visit before you leave.
Really worth a visit if you are in the area.

We've driven through Cochrane occasionally, often stopped for ice cream or a meal, but never visited this park before. The short trail leads up to great views across the Bow Valley and out to the mountains. There are steps for those who don't fancy the steep, loose trail. We continued up to the RancheHouse event centre and back along the main trail. A very enjoyable wee walk of 40-45 mins.

The green space, more or less in the centre of Cochrane, has had many roles over the years. It started off as headquarters of the Cochrane Ranche, a gigantic ranch in 1881. When a train station was built here, urban settlement took off. The Visitor Centre used to be located here, but it is now somewhere downtown. Currently, there is a museum on the site, and the site is used for Cochrane's many outdoor events and celebrations. On our recent visit, there was an interesting Art Walk Market, and they have a well-known farmer's market here as well. The only down side is the location at the intersection of the 1A highway and Highway 20, aka The Cowboy Trail. When it's busy, the way in and out can cause slowdowns on these highways, and delays for the park's users, but with patience, you will eventually get in and out...

Cochrane history is starting here, in this small, but very nice park. Even it’s very busy every day, park is kept clean and in “good condition”. It’s very precious to me, because this park is part of my life close to 40 years now.

I frequently mountain bike through this park. It's a great thing to have in our town! Only improvements I could think of would be better signage for what trails are on town property and which trails go onto private property.

A great place to enjoy the great outdoors. Climb up to the top of the ranch to meet “Malcolm Mackenzie” and get a bird’s eye view of the town. Dogs on leashes are welcomed. Stairs will help you mount certain elevations so that a range of people can enjoy. Go for it!
