Overview
More
The Wild Pacific Trail is located in Ucluelet and is a seven phase trail system skirting the rugged cliffs and shoreline of the west coast of Vancouver Island. Overlooking Barkley Sound and the Broken Group Islands to the east and the open Pacific Ocean to the south and west, it offers spectacular shoreline panoramas and seaward vistas through ancient cedar and spruce-framed viewing platforms constructed on the best headlands along the route.

There is a loop that includes the lighthouse and the only time you are not viewing a spectacular view is on the backside of the loop where it is wooded, but that is pleasant as well. The trail is suitable for almost everyone except perhaps...More

Lovely place to do a short hour long hike. We set off close to Terrace beach resort for 2 km walk around to lighthouse and back. Temperate rainforest with ferns and pines. Spectacular coastline scenery. Take binoculars and a good camera.

Take awhile to wander through, gorgeous views and spectacular scenery. We went early in the morning and there was not a person around. We really thought this was a very beautiful place

We hiked this trail on a recent visit to Ucluelet. It was the highlight of our trip. The trail is clearly marked and accessible to any reasonably fit person. The views of the ocean and the coastline were stunning. The Lighthouse Loop at sunset was...More

Depending on how much time you spend on the trail, it can be good exercise, a pleasant mosey, or a chance to stop often and take wonderful photos. The trail is easy to navigate with few steep ups or down--the Lighthouse Trail is shorter but...More

We stayed in an hotel on the Wild Pacific Trail. The trail itself is well made and easy to walk taking you through the forest, along the rocky coast and down to beaches. There are plenty of signposts and viewpoints as well as seats so...More

This man made trail has been skilfully constructed to take every advantage of the natural landscape. You could walk for great distances if wanted, although we did a 5 mile round trip back to the hotel.

An amazing sight and feeling when you walk around the beach. The sea shore is awesome and breath taking.

Hugging the rugged coast in Ucluelet, the Wild Pacific Trail draws many people! While I have only hiked mostly around the Amphitrite Lighthouse, the scenery is stunning, and the trails well maintained and easy to walk. Insurmountable beauty at every turn!

The Wild Pacific trail is a chain of several smaller trails of varying options of difficulty, mostly easy-moderate. The Lighthouse Trail component is fun and gives a nice view around the end of the Peninsula. The Ancient Cedars trail is super quick and easy to...More

You bet! We have been there in the winter where we jut pop out on the trail to watch the pounding surf for 10 minutes. Other times we do longer loops. Enjoy!

If you are short on time, the Lighthouse Loop is wonderful as it encapsulates a little bit of everything that the Trail has to offer in terms of scenery. The Artist Loops, on a different section of the Trail, provides... More
