This was the last winery we went to before heading home. We’d heard great things about the pizza and were excited for one last wine tasting. It was going well (though honestly not our favourite wines) until we told the man doing the tasting that we’d come from Ottawa because of the giant storm that had hit and left us and thousands of others without power. His response was that he’d heard about how bad it was and then made a comment about taking advantage of the “Jewish lightening” which left us speechless in the worst way. We’re a bi-racial couple (which really shouldn’t matter) and to think that this employee thought that that was an appropriate thing to say to us, was really upsetting. It left a very bad taste in our mouth and honestly made us feel a little unsafe if that is in fact something he deemed appropriate to say let alone a professional setting.
The pizza was ok, again, not our favourite from the trip, as we’d ordered prior to our wine tasting, and we left immediately after. Would not recommend this winery to friends or family or folks who have a social conscious.

The wines we tasted were decent. They had a good pinot gris and cabaret franc - good red wines. The host was polite and had a deadpan style of sarcasm which made the tastings fun.
Tastings are free with wine purchase.

We had a nice wine and vinegar tasting here. When we arrived we weren't sure whether they were open as it was pretty dark inside. But, we were then greeted and offered a tasting. We had a fun time chatting and learning about their wine and vinegar processes.
We were there in the off season, so I'm not sure whether the tasting bar and store would look differently during the regular season. It was a bit messy and dusty. But, I think they were doing some work. That aside, we had a good time here and enjoyed the wine.

We went there for wine tasting on Oct 25th 2021. It was cold, windy and raining outside, but the winery lady told us the tastings were done outside, even though they had an indoor tasting room. And then we were litteraly served drops of wine in plastic cups. Their wines are not bad, but doing tastings in cheap plastic cups out in the open during bad weather was not great.

Nice open area with picnic tables and nice knowledgeable staff. Very helpful in providing some insight and recommendations on wine. Nice variety and good info wines. A little more expensive than other wineries but you get what you pay for.
The pizza was great… rivals the better pizza joints we have visited.
If I lived in the area, I could see myself dropping in for a small glass of wine and a pizza for lunch.

Due to Covid the wood fired pizza is ordered inside and you have the choice of picnic tabel outside . I had the grilled pinabble pizza with bacon and peach sauce and it was absolutly delicious . The pizza"s come in one size 12 inch rould thin crust. You have to it and the of course there is wine tasting. Beer can be orders with the pizza.

Pizza is ok, but there is no Wow effect. The service is poor at the pizza station. Employees seem not happy (they don't smile). The owners have no respect for their products. They serve their wine in plastic glasses! We decided not to taste it for this reason.

For all those wine lovers out there, you don't have to travel far out of Picton to have great wine. I wasn't expecting much but was surprised that this vineyard had the best wine I had tasted in the area. Mind you, I haven't tried every vineyard. Their peach vinegar was absolutely amazing and I could drink it alone or with Club soda as a spritzer. Geoff the owner was super welcoming. A definite repeat visit when in Picton again.

I'm looking to make interesting stops on my way back from Ottawa to Oshawa 7/3/17. Would there be wine tasting at this time? And what would be the best route there?

Greetings Sunny.
We will be open that day for sure in March but can't speak for all the other wineries in the area - there will be a few open but nor all as many of the smaller ones are seasonal.
Best route from Ottawa is Hwy 416 south to Hwy 401 west to exit 566 (Marysville - Tyendinega) south on Route 49 over the bridge to Picton.
49 ends at Picton Main Street (Loyalist Parkway- Hwy 33) go right, through town and out the other end, straight past the Liquor Store about .5 miles and we are on the right hand side Black Prince Winery, 13370 Loyalist Parkway, Picton. We will give you easy directions to other attractions and wineries open that day as you follow Hwy 33 back up to Hwy 401 and west to Oshawa.
