First post for us on this site. We came from London mid week. Having not been to PEC in the past we were not sure what to expect. With a lack lustre experience at the first winery we went to we were pleasantly surprised with the venue and vibe we got at Black Prince. Curtis our bartender gave us some details on the history of the winery and noted as well they have been using the services of a barrel maker named Pete and using barrels made from Ontario Oak. Neither my husband nor I are wine experts yet we both left with a much better understanding of barrels and wine. We were also entertained with a brief video of a barrel on fire that the barrel maker was preparing for a wine barrel. It did start to rain briefly and heavily. Curtis was very quick to shift and make changes to the outside bar to ensure we did not get wet. The wines and balsamic vinegars were both top notch. The Oak Chardonnay was the winner for us. The pizza lived up to the reviews online and covid friendly. All staff wearing masks / visors. We will be sure to stop back again.

I enjoyed standing on the back deck for a curated tasting, and hearing the stories of how the different wines and vinegars were made. Very knowledgeable host and a wide variety of wines not found elsewhere.
We were there on a weekday, I think it would be very different on the weekend. Did not have pizza but it seemed popular.
Tasting was $10, waived if you bought wine - which we did.

My husband and I visited the Black Prince Winery on June 30, 2020. We were very pleased that it was open (Ug COVID) because we looked forward to a wine and vinegar tasting that isn’t too common. We started by exploring the barns and the barrels on the site. We learned that one of Canada‘s top Coopers operates out of the Black Prince winery. More on that in a bit.

We sampled four of their wines which were quite lovely, but I was really looking forward to sampling vinegar, as that is not some thing I had ever done before. The vinegars were lovely, but I have a big complaint. They serve samples of the vinegar in Dixie cups, which you are expected to sip like wine. This was OK for the first one or two vinegars but after a while it becomes unpleasant to sip the astringent liquid. I asked our very outgoing and knowledgable host why bread is not served with the vinegar tasting. His response is that it would be too expensive. I would highly recommend that the Black Prince Winery team up with a local bakery and start chopping chunks of bread For guests to dip into the vinegar. It would make the experience much, much more pleasant.

It was only when we travel to another winery that we learned how well-known and revered the Cooper is from the Black Prince Winery. It is too bad that they do not offer more information about the way that wine barrels are made, how expensive they are, and how the barrels can change the taste of wines and vinegars. I think that the Winery could add this experience to the current offering.

All in all it is a lovely winery and the staff are great. Well worth a visit

We ordered pizza and my wife went to use the bathroom. They wanted her to sign a book for contact tracing. Not thinking she asked the reason and he was incredibly rude and in his response that it was a health department requirement. He then doubled down with a sarcastic sexist comment that it was to collect the names of pretty ladies. Totally rude, sexist, and unacceptable.

We went there for wine tasting on Oct 25th 2021. It was cold, windy and raining outside, but the winery lady told us the tastings were done outside, even though they had an indoor tasting room. And then we were litteraly served drops of wine in plastic cups. Their wines are not bad, but doing tastings in cheap plastic cups out in the open during bad weather was not great.

This was the last winery we went to before heading home. We’d heard great things about the pizza and were excited for one last wine tasting. It was going well (though honestly not our favourite wines) until we told the man doing the tasting that we’d come from Ottawa because of the giant storm that had hit and left us and thousands of others without power. His response was that he’d heard about how bad it was and then made a comment about taking advantage of the “Jewish lightening” which left us speechless in the worst way. We’re a bi-racial couple (which really shouldn’t matter) and to think that this employee thought that that was an appropriate thing to say to us, was really upsetting. It left a very bad taste in our mouth and honestly made us feel a little unsafe if that is in fact something he deemed appropriate to say let alone a professional setting.
The pizza was ok, again, not our favourite from the trip, as we’d ordered prior to our wine tasting, and we left immediately after. Would not recommend this winery to friends or family or folks who have a social conscious.

My husband and I stopped by on the morning we were leaving Prince Edward County so that we could get another quick wine tasting in before leaving the area! We were so glad that did, because their wines are really very good. A bit more expensive than some that we usually buy, but worth it to grab a bottle or 2 on your way out of town so that you can drink it later!
Our tasting was done by a very nice young guy who seemed to know a bit about the winery, which was nice. We tasted 4 wines, including their Mary Jane, which was pretty interesting.
Their Pinot Gris was really good, with a subtle sweet taste. We also tried the Merlot and the Can Franc, both if which were very good as well.
Before leaving, we did a vinegar tasting as well, which was really cool! We really enjoyed the fruity sweetness of the Peach and Raspberry. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Steak Spice vinegar, and the best one of the day was 100% the Sherry Balsamic, which we took home a bottle of.
Very nice little place here with really good wines and vinegars. What a great experience! Totally worth the stop in.

We were on a 4 day winery road trip through Prince Edward County and this was one of our stops. Great place for a wine tasting. Tasting price reasonable and even free is you bought a bottle, which we did. Very tasty.

My friends and I picked this winery for lunch this week as we are visiting a different one each week trying to get to as many as possible. The BBQ chicken pizza did not have a single piece of chicken on it and the margarita pizza was tastless. The pizzas came in boxes and when we asked for plates they said they didn't have any but we could have as many serviettes as we liked. Our bottle of wine was handed to us with 4 plastic glasses. The 2 guys making the pizzas acted like we were a huge bother to them. All 4 of us agreed that so far this is the worst winery we have visited so far
