About
Malahat SkyWalk opened in July 2021 as the newest outdoor experience providing the ultimate natural high on Vancouver Island – located 35 minutes north of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Accessible by all ages and wheelchair-friendly, it will immerse visitors in nature as they embark on a 600 metre-long elevated walkway through an expansive Arbutus and Douglas Fir forest, leading to a 10-storey, architecturally-inspiring spiral tower lookout – the first of its kind in B.C. Rising 250 metres above sea level, guests can enjoy 360-degree views of islands, inlets, fjords, forests and mountains in two countries. An adventure net suspended partially across the centre of the Spiral Tower provides daring guests with another breathtaking perspective on the spiraling structure below before returning to ground level with an option to take an exhilarating ride down a 20 metre (65 ft) spiral slide. Guests can find a deeper connection to nature and to Vancouver Island here.

I would definitely go back on my next trip!
Both the appearance and the engineering on this are impressive. You walk out to its perch on an elevated walkway, so as to preserve the hillside ecology. Then you walk up inside the "barrel" via a gently-sloped ramp, until you get to the "crown." Views are spectacular. You can choose to slide down a tube on the inside spiral, rather than walk the entire ramp down. We are both senior citizens, and we did it; it was a blast!
Thank you for your kind words and detailed description of your experience. We're pleased to hear that you found both the appearance and engineering impressive. It's wonderful to know that you, as senior citizens, enjoyed the visit and found the slide to be a blast. We appreciate your visit and look forward to welcoming you again in the future.

    beautiful views and a slide!
A great place to stop while travelling to or from Victoria. The views were spectacular and the ride down the slide was like being a kid again! The trail through the woods to get to the structure was a little long and uninteresting, but the views from the structure more than made up for it.
Thank you for your review! We're pleased to hear that you had a great stop during your journey to or from Victoria and that the views and slide brought out the inner child in you. We appreciate your feedback about the trail and will consider improvements. We hope to see you again for more spectacular views and fun experiences!

    Stunning views, very comfortable walk
WOW! This is a place worth visiting. You make your way through a short walk in the forest. There are many beautifully sculpted animals enroute. A gently slope ramp winds it way up to the top with breathtaking views. Your choice to either slide or walk down. They have two mats, one slower the other fast. It is a quick trip to slide and an easy walk back down. The brave ones at the top ventured out onto a net that you can see all the way down. I watched from the sidelines!. Stunning views!
Thank you for your enthusiastic review! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your visit, from the scenic walk through the forest to the exciting slide and breathtaking views. We appreciate your feedback and are glad you had a memorable experience. We hope to welcome you back soon to enjoy more stunning views.

Loved this place. The views were wonderful the walk up was easy and the slide was a blast! If you have lots of time, sit in the chairs at the bottom of the slide and watch people come off at the end. You’ll be smiling and laughing too!
Thank you for your kind words! We're delighted that you loved your visit and enjoyed the wonderful views and the slide. We hope to see you back soon, and you'll find us smiling and ready to welcome you!

Even old ladies enjoy the walk, the view, and especially the slide down.
As a 79 year old grandmother I was not enthusiastic about climbing to the top of about ten stories. I don't mind heights but I do mind climbing. Was I ever WRONG. The incline makes it an easy walk to the top. The view is great. The guides are wonderfully informative. Getting down took me about ten seconds on the slide and was fun.
Dear helmetheadgranny, Thank you for sharing your delightful experience at Malahat Skywalk! We're thrilled to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed your visit. We're glad to hear that the incline made the walk to the top manageable for you and that you found the view to be great. Our guides strive to provide informative and enjoyable experiences for all our guests, and we're delighted that you found them wonderfully so. It's wonderful to hear that you found the slide down to be fun and that it made the descent enjoyable for you. Thank you for choosing to spend your day with us, and we hope to welcome you back for more adventures in the future!

    Worth a visit
It's a nice attraction I would recommend people that visits Victoria with a car to do. It isn't very far out of town, about 20 minutes drive. The structure is a nicely designed Engineering marvel that lets you get high up and see the beautiful view, and you can come back down easily through a fun slide. Up at the top also has a net that you could walk on and see through to the bottom. It was a nice and enjoyable half day trip our family had.
Dear Josephliyen, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Malahat Skywalk! We're thrilled to hear that you found it worth a visit and would recommend it to others visiting Victoria. We're glad you appreciated the convenient location and the marvel of our engineering structure. It's fantastic that you and your family enjoyed the breathtaking views from the top and had fun on the slide. We're delighted that we could contribute to making your family trip a nice and enjoyable one. We hope to welcome you all back for more memorable experiences in the future!

    So Fun!
I'd been wanting to do this since it was built. We finally got a nice day to make the short drive up from Victoria. The walk out to the tower is easy, and lovely, with a few fun things along the way. Walking up the tower is very easy. It is a slight incline all the way up, which was easy for someone with slightly limited mobility. The views from the top were amazing. You have the choice to walk down or take the slide. Of course, we took the slide, which was so much fun. We went towards the end of the day. If we'd had more time, we would have done it again. There are also some trails you can check out, but we didn't have time. It was just a lovely day!

    Great attraction, recommend a visit.
Great tourist site. Would need about 1 hour here. try to go on a sunny day. The slide is quite fun (good for small kids and adults), but in the summer the line up for the slides can be up to 1 hour (not sure if I would wait 1 hour for that 10 second slide). Great views! Friendly staff. Would recommend a visit.
Thank you for the glowing review of Malahat Skywalk! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your visit to our location and appreciated the stunning views. We understand that the wait times for the slide, especially during peak seasons, can be a bit long, but we're delighted that you found the experience enjoyable nonetheless. We appreciate your recommendation and kind words about our friendly staff. We hope to welcome you back soon for another sunny day adventure at Malahat Skywalk!

    Recommend visiting for fantastic views
Fantastic views and very peaceful. We arrived as it opened and first there which made it even better. Great boardwalk and a choice to walk in the woods on the way back. Recommend that you take the slide on the way back down - not just for kids but for adults too!

On a clear day you can see forever!
Amazing adventure. The boardwalk leading to the Skywalk is filled with information, driftwood art, beautiful views, lots of places to stop and enjoy natural surroundings. The Skywalk itself is an engineering marvel and worth every step. Take time to read the signs as you walk the spiral walkway and the views. At the top, the 360degree view is breathtaking. Check out the Adventure Net then take the slide back down. The base of the Skywalk allows for relaxing in Muskoka chairs to admire the view or sit around a firepit while the kids play on the play structures. There's a hiking trail back to the front gate that takes a few minutes longer than returning via the boardwalk.
Thank you for sharing your fantastic experience, Tracy! We're thrilled to hear that you had an amazing adventure at Malahat Skywalk. Enjoyed the view and the accessibility for all people. It was overpriced though and disappointing in that we paid $80 for one adult and two kids and had the unpleasant noise of concrete or stone grinding (or whatever the on-site construction folks were doing) for the entire visit. The noise really impacted on the beauty of the natural surroundings and tickets should be discounted under such circumstances. We could only manage it for 45 minutes. Also, the line for the exiting looking slide, on a Wednesday in March, was so long that the kids didn’t want to do it. This is a lovely idea and has potential but was not good value for money today.

We are sorry to hear that your experience was less that what we strive for. We are indeed doing improvements to our Tower Plaza with some exciting additions. The crew has been trying to minimize the impact on the guest experience and I am sorry that it affected yours so deeply. Please send us an email to info@malahatskywalk.com. Thank you.

This is a beautiful walk on a very well-built walkway and tower. The net to walk on was fun, and the slide was okay but slow because it was wet. We had no view because of the weather. It sort of feels like we paid $100 for a family of 4 to go for a walk.

Some people in our group had small children. The kids were all excited to do the big slide. It was not until we purchased our tickets that we saw a sign saying the slide had a height limit. The sign was not near the ticket booth but over by the gift shop where people might choose to exit. We asked if we could have a refund as we knew it would cause a problem for some of the kids. They would not do a refund even though we had just purchased minutes before.

I hope they build some more amenities to make it more worthwhile (such as a smaller slide for kids so that they feel included).

Pros: beautiful walkway, on a sunny day the view would be lovely, staff were friendly.

Cons: insanely expensive for what you get, poor communication regarding height limit on the slide, currently a partial construction zone so the beauty is somewhat spoiled.

We have received your email this morning and will be in touch about your experience this weekend. We have so much to offer and you will be happy to know that we have even more to come! You may have noticed the construction at the base of the Spiral Tower where we are making some pretty special new additions this spring with families in mind; in fact you little ones will be especially happy ;-) I look forward to finding a resolution with you in our direct communications offline.

I really admired the beautiful wood construction. Quite enjoyed the walk to the top and the view was fabulous however the line up was way too long for the slide so we weren't able to do it. The admission is way too high. Should be $15 tops especially given you aren't able to partake of the most interesting thing (the slide) unless you are prepared to wait up to two hours.

Really fun and cool adventure, tons of cool things to see. Cool little trail or suspended bridge walk to take you to the spiral ramp building. Cool views all the way to the top, with a cool little rope floor section you can stand over and look down the entire building. We did wait an hour for the slide which looks like it stays consistently busy all day currently. Definitely worth it, tons of cool views however wish there is a few extra things to do to divert the amount of traffic so the slides don't end up being a long wait.

Good family visit, but felt the price was quite high, although as live quite nearby did use one entry to go towards annual pass for my nephew as he will definitely be going again. The walkway through the woods with beautiful sculptures made out of branches such as an owl in the tree, a wolf and cougar - there is a scavenger hunt for young kids to spot theses creatures. Excellent access for wheelchair users. One young lady in her wheelchair was exhilerated with a big smile on her face as she sped from the top to the bottom of the skywalk as we all stood to the size. Nice gentle incline walking to the top of the Skywalk and fabulous views. I liked the information posters that showed what each hill/island was - clear views across to the San Juan Islands in USA. I imagine on a sunny day it would be very hot up the top. We did not bother with the slide because of long line ups. There are picnic tables at the base of the Skywalk to sit and eat. Gift store disappointing - was hoping they would have postcards of the views and of the Skywalk. There are some plain looking t shirts/sweatshirts. Was surprised the staff were not wearing masks. On leaving if you are heading back to Victoria you have to turn right out of the car park and drive about 5km to turnoff to mill bay ferry and then go under the highway and back south to Victoria. If you are going to Skywalk from the North you have to go past it and turn at Shawnigan turnoff and then come north so need to be aware of that.

Hello KatieB5030, Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to review your experience. It seems that you saw ALMOST all of Tanya Bub's beautiful driftwood art on your trip. Next time you visit, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the driftwood eagle near the end of the elevated walkway! As for the gift store, our stock is ever changing, and postcards with the view is a fantastic idea! It can definitely get hot up at the top on a warm day - Best to bring all the supplies (water bottle, hat, etc) We look forward to seeing you again soon, - Madison

While out on a mid-autumn excursion, we thought it would be fun to take in Vancouver Island’s newest major attraction: The Malahat Skywalk. Opened in July 2021 to much media attention and fanfare, this attraction elegantly combines eco-tourism and Indigenous culture. First, you walk 600 meters along an elevated walkway – admiring the smooth arbutus trees along the way – before reaching an architecturally stunning spiral tower. The tower itself rises 250 meters above sea level and, once you reach its zenith, you’re treated to impressive 360 degree views of the Saanich Peninsula, Finlayson Arm, Mount Baker and the Coast Mountains. Even on a cloudy day (when we visited), the views are exceptional.

Is the Malahat Skywalk worth the 30 minute drive from Victoria? Absolutely! The experience, from start to finish, is well worth the short drive; however, as numerous earlier reviews point out, it’s difficult for me to see this attraction being more than a “one and done” for most. You do the walk, admire the trees, observe the artwork, climb the tower, walk across the net, enjoy the views and slide back down. It’s a fun experience, but I’m not sure about the level of repeat value? Or, maybe I’m just being a curmudgeon!

The attraction is also a bit pricey at $34.95 per ticket, but I suppose that’s fine if most come here as a one-off. Otherwise, if you do plan on multiple visits, an annual pass would be of far better value.

My sister Joanne encouraged us to buy annual passes for the Malahat Skywalk during their sale event and so for our Sunday Date Day in August my husband and I finally made the trip up the Malahat to see this new outdoor adventure! It was a sunny day and the sky was spotted with just a few clouds so we knew the time was right! Once we got our pass photos taken and signed our waivers we were on our way! The slowly elevating wooden boardwalk through the Arbutus Tree grove gave us a chance to stop, stare and marvel at nature’s beauty including several incredible driftwood sculptures! At one point my husband spotted the chimes and played us a tune that reverberated sweetly among the trees. The boardwalk gradually led us to the majestic Malahat Skywalk tower that we knew would bring us to an amazing viewing height! We set our own pace as we walked round and round and round until we came to the very top! You could stop at any time to rest along the railing if walking was a challenge but we were excited to reach our destination so didn’t dawdle too much. Wow what a beautiful opportunity to gaze out over the Saanich Inlet from so high above! It was breathtaking. We hoped we might see a pod of whales in the inlet but were happy with a few turkey vultures flying overhead! There were some helpful maps to indicate just where we were in relation to our vista point and a bench to sit and ponder on marine life! As well you could check your balance on the wire mesh netting or watch what was going on at the levels below. We didn’t opt to take the slide down the tower this visit but promised ourselves we would next time! Back down on the ground we visited the outdoor cafe which seemed rather smallish for such a grand attraction but I was happy to get my decalf oat milk latte! The washroom facility was adequate but again not at a level for such a place that will attract thousands of people visiting the island. We did not visit the gift shop but many others did! The Malahat Skywalk more than met our expectations…we are looking forward to going back for no two views are ever the same!

A wonderful experience at the Malahat Skywalk. For four people, one of which was free, it cost $87, so it’s not cheap. That said, the outdoor activity is amazing. The views are awe inspiring, the slide was particularly fun for the kids, the carvings of animals were well done. The only minor complaint I have for the Skywalk, is that they gave a “scavenger hunt” for the kids to complete for a prize/gift at the end, but when the hunt was done, they were out of gifts. Maybe don’t give out the scavenger hunt pieces of paper then. A splendid time at the Malahat Skywalk, if you like mountainous views and a nice calm outdoors walk, essentially for 2-3 hours while learning a bit, you cannot go wrong here!!

Thank you for visiting and making mention of the incredible driftwood art pieces we have installed throughout the site , they are pretty incredible! We have a few unexpected treasures on site with the art, the information panels and of course the hidden creatures along the way. So great that you took the time to truly enjoy the experience. (I'll remind the staff about the scavenger hunt to let parents know in advance if out of gifts as often kids still want to do the scavenger hunt with out the prize) We appreciate your great review!

If you are within driving distance, the Malahat Skywalk is an experience you shouldn't miss. While it could be simply described as a lookout tower, it is actually so much more. The approach to the tower is a wide, wooden suspended pathway that takes you over 600 yards through a forest of Arbutus and Douglas Fir, with informative but unobrusive signage along the way. Upon reaching the tower, you then begin the stroll to the top of the ten story structure, proceeding along the wide, spiral wooden walkway with stunning views every step of the way. At the top, you have a 360 view of mountains, fjords, islands and forests and can even see Mt. Baker in the U.S. Here too there is well placed and informative signage. At the center of the tower is netting that you can walk on. Having just enough spring to make a walk interesting, the netting offers a little extra spice for your outing. You can then either take a leisurely stroll back down the spiral ramp or ride an enclosed slide that will quickly deliver you to the bottom. What everyone considering this outing should know is that this is a very accessible attraction. Though the tower is ten stories high, the spiral ramp up is at such a gradual incline that you hardly realize you are ascending. The ascent is so gentle that it would be easy to push a wheelchair and, indeed, we saw several folks in wheelchairs. While the recommended time for a visit is about 90 minutes, it would be easy to spend far longer as the site also has spectacular view areas with adirondack chairs. Additionally, there is a small cafe and gift shop at the entrance. Bottom line, this is a stunning, well designed attraction accessible to all.

Although the Malahat Skywalk is a bit pricey, it's a fun and unique experience with great views and a giant spiral slide for ages 5+. It takes approximately 30 minutes to walk to the top. For those who don't mind heights, there are glass barriers that enhance the already incredible views. The slide is not recommended for those who are claustrophobic and the wait can be long but based on the happy faces of those landing at the bottom - well worth it. It would have been nice if there was a lower entry fee for those who don't go down the slide.

Hello tove b, I'm happy to hear that you believe the Malahat SkyWalk was a fun, and unique experience. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. While the slide is a fun element, I believe you experienced the best part: the beautiful views from our observation deck. We greatly appreciate the feedback! -Madison
