About
Malahat SkyWalk opened in July 2021 as the newest outdoor experience providing the ultimate natural high on Vancouver Island – located 35 minutes north of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Accessible by all ages and wheelchair-friendly, it will immerse visitors in nature as they embark on a 600 metre-long elevated walkway through an expansive Arbutus and Douglas Fir forest, leading to a 10-storey, architecturally-inspiring spiral tower lookout – the first of its kind in B.C. Rising 250 metres above sea level, guests can enjoy 360-degree views of islands, inlets, fjords, forests and mountains in two countries. An adventure net suspended partially across the centre of the Spiral Tower provides daring guests with another breathtaking perspective on the spiraling structure below before returning to ground level with an option to take an exhilarating ride down a 20 metre (65 ft) spiral slide. Guests can find a deeper connection to nature and to Vancouver Island here.

- PookyCakeVictoria, Canada13,814 contributionsArbutus Trees and 360 Degree ViewsWhile out on a mid-autumn excursion, we thought it would be fun to take in Vancouver Island’s newest major attraction: The Malahat Skywalk. Opened in July 2021 to much media attention and fanfare, this attraction elegantly combines eco-tourism and Indigenous culture. First, you walk 600 meters along an elevated walkway – admiring the smooth arbutus trees along the way – before reaching an architecturally stunning spiral tower. The tower itself rises 250 meters above sea level and, once you reach its zenith, you’re treated to impressive 360 degree views of the Saanich Peninsula, Finlayson Arm, Mount Baker and the Coast Mountains. Even on a cloudy day (when we visited), the views are exceptional. Is the Malahat Skywalk worth the 30 minute drive from Victoria? Absolutely! The experience, from start to finish, is well worth the short drive; however, as numerous earlier reviews point out, it’s difficult for me to see this attraction being more than a “one and done” for most. You do the walk, admire the trees, observe the artwork, climb the tower, walk across the net, enjoy the views and slide back down. It’s a fun experience, but I’m not sure about the level of repeat value? Or, maybe I’m just being a curmudgeon! The attraction is also a bit pricey at $34.95 per ticket, but I suppose that’s fine if most come here as a one-off. Otherwise, if you do plan on multiple visits, an annual pass would be of far better value.Visited October 2022Written December 29, 2022
- Laura S16 contributionsGreat views but would not use the slide againCAUTION! I would rate 5* on the views but only 1* for slide safety. We visited two days ago. The views are incredible and definitely worth the ticket price. However, I injured myself on the slide. I'm a 5'2", 98 pound female. Due to the steep, winding slide, I slid off the mat on my right side. My arm and leg are still bruised, and my ribs are hurting, so are likely bruised. My husband and sister are heavier than me, and they were fine.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten May 19, 2023
- jpatto26Blue Mountains, Australia376 contributionsAmazing viewsThe skywalk is an outstanding construction in a forest environment. Once you climb the spiral structure you are astounded by the 360 degree vista over the island and onto the mainland. For kids the ride down the tunnel is exhilarating. A rewarding, albeit fairly expensive, excursion.Visited May 2023Travelled with friendsWritten May 22, 2023
- Sharda12 contributionsAmazing viewsAn amazing structure and even amazing views from the top of the tower. There is a net at the top you can walk onto, my legs turned to jelly when I stepped on but plucked up courage to stay on and take some pics. Enjoyed the walk up and the slide going down. Have your camera ready to take a video of your slide as you go through the tunnel. In my opinion it's a bit pricey but don't let that put you off. Great experience!Visited June 2023Travelled with familyWritten June 23, 2023
- DerekLeonard1990Maple Valley, Washington11 contributionsSinging in the CloudsYou go for the 360 view high above an inlet on the side of a large hill. This art and a slide and a skywalk, but it is really about the view. Going in the summer evening, you get good lighting. We were fortunate to go when a choir was singing at top, making it an effervescent experience.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten July 7, 2023
- Helen CRenton, Washington934 contributionsInteresting conceptFirst, there is about a quarter of a mile skywalk among the trees to get to the spiral tower. This gets you to the second level of the tower. The tower gradient is low, so not a hard walk at all. A few levels up, you can take the slide down. There is also a spiral staircase down. There is some fast food on sale at the entrance and at the tower. There are a few wooden sculptures of animals among the trees. There is also a sandy, unshaded path path back to the entrance but the skywalk is more comfortable.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten July 14, 2023
- deepakgupta5Vancouver, Canada601 contributionsBreath taking viewsThis is a new attraction opened in Vancouver Island and is a 30 minutes drive away from Victoria but is worth while making a trip here. You have a fairly easy walk and climb up to the top floor from where you get fantastic views of the nearby inlets and the mountains. You can easily see some of the mountains of the USA from here. For going down, you can take the slide which is a fun rideVisited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten July 21, 2023

Loved this place. The views were wonderful the walk up was easy and the slide was a blast! If you have lots of time, sit in the chairs at the bottom of the slide and watch people come off at the end. You’ll be smiling and laughing too!

WOW! This is a place worth visiting. You make your way through a short walk in the forest. There are many beautifully sculpted animals enroute. A gently slope ramp winds it way up to the top with breathtaking views. Your choice to either slide or walk down. They have two mats, one slower the other fast. It is a quick trip to slide and an easy walk back down. The brave ones at the top ventured out onto a net that you can see all the way down. I watched from the sidelines!. Stunning views!

Both the appearance and the engineering on this are impressive. You walk out to its perch on an elevated walkway, so as to preserve the hillside ecology. Then you walk up inside the "barrel" via a gently-sloped ramp, until you get to the "crown." Views are spectacular. You can choose to slide down a tube on the inside spiral, rather than walk the entire ramp down. We are both senior citizens, and we did it; it was a blast!

A must-stop when visiting Vancouver Island! The wind was blowing pretty hard this day so it was kinda scary at times the higher we got. At the top there’s a net you can walk across, and the 360 views are spectacular. The slide down was super fun - and fast!! Beautiful place to visit with the fam 🥰

Well worth organising a separate trip with Island Time Tours. A bit pricey (around 100 CAD) but fantastic views are the reward. Walk through the treetops to get to the platform and a gentle spiral slope. Great for those with ambulant issues. Check the weather though before you go!!!

The location, the shape, the view, the net, the slide all was a tremendous experience. Also was amazing that was kind of end of summer so were no kids. All the photos I took are sooo good views. Y 100% accesible for all ages and mobility issues as the path is very wide.

This attraction is a little difficult to reach. We hired a cab to take us there, wait and bring us back to downtown. The visit to the skywalk was worth the trouble. The walk up the scaffolding, the scenic view along the way and at the top was just awesome. We took the slide down, which was quite fun.

Worth the stop if you have the time! The structure is unique and gives a great view of the Inlet below. The Softy's truck when you get to the bottom is an awesome treat on a warm day.
Thanks for the experience!

This is a great alternative if a hike is too strenuous for any in your party. The spiral skywalk is at the end of a short walk through mountain woods. The skywalk is gently sloped so that my husband was able to push grandma up in a wheelchair the full distance. Views only get better as you go higher. 360 view from the top and a fun mesh bouncy pad to walk over, if heights don't bother you. The wheelchair was easy for me to bring down the spiral without feeling a loss of control. Others in our group enjoyed the slide!
An adequate concession stand with seating at the bottom overlooks a fun play area for kids. Space is used well..
The workers were very friendly and helpful. I appreciated the free wheelchairs that were available.
This is a multi-generational destination that has something for everyone.
