We really enjoyed our trip. We were over the moon to see so much wildlife. The accommodations were comfortable and the food was great. The guides really work hard to make the experience special. The hot tub is excellent to warm up at night! Some tips would be to make sure your luggage is waterproof for travel to and from camp (just in case). Bring an activity (books or games) for down times. And especially bring lots of warm clothes if you are going closer to fall.

Hey Lindsay, I am so happy to hear you enjoyed your trip so much! Those are great tips. It gets cooler as we get closer to fall for sure -- especially on a year like this when it cooled down so quickly. Thank you for joining us, and taking the time to write this review.

The Wild Coast 5 day kayaking trip to Desolation Sound was fantastic. Trip leaders Nolan and Morgan were knowlegeable, skilled, fun and fabulous chefs. The beauty of this part of British Columbia cannot be adequately described in words. It was amazing to experience from the water and to wake up to it from the tent. The kayaking was not overly challenging -- we are in our 60's and had no problems at all. The camping added to the nature experience. Absolutely great trip and would highly recommend it.

Gorgeous first kayaking and tenting experience. I’m 45 yrs old and the staff correctly convinced me I could do it. I trained for 8 weeks doing a basic cardio and tensor band strengthening for paddling program. Being on the water felt and looked and smelled amazing! I snorkelled every site we saw ( in september wihout a wetsuit - I love cold water ) and saw creatures I still haven’t identified. Our guides Nolan and Morgan provided so much knowledge and made us feel safe and comfortable. The food was delicious - way above expectation! I look forward to the next adventure . . .

This is our first glamping trip. We love the experience. Well done to the team. A few comment: 1) booking was a pleasure, Taya was excellent, she explained everything. Being our first multi day kayak trip we had A LOT of questions. She helped us to change dates three times when we needed to. 2) the transfer to and from Campbell River was very punctual, the marina was easy find and the car park was a short distance away. The boat ride was quite long almost 3 hours with a stop at Quadra island. The water was very choppy during our outbound journey, it may cause some sea sickness with susceptible people. Dave was very enthusiastic and pointed out the jumping salmon and other interesting stuff. On the way back the water was so much calmer and we saw some orca too. 3) Camp was very nice with mattress plus sleeping bags. The camp has hot tub and hot shower, a nice sink and ecological outhouse. The big dining camp has books and some games for “down time” when we are not kayaking. 4) On the first day we did a sunset kayak, beautiful. Second and third day each have three kayak trips, the last day one more before departure. We saw orca twice but not the humpback. 5) Food was awesome and plentiful. Lots of snacks too. 6) Lots of mosquito so definitely bring insect repellent. There was barely any sun during our trip quite hard to dry any clothes, I would suggest over packing just in case. 7) All the guides are very enthusiastic young people, mostly first or second year with orca camp. They are very knowledgeable and make the trip really fun. However I would point out, at the risk of being accused of a sexist, that two of them are young small sized girls, it is quite painful seeing them dragging the heavy double kayaks, carrying our luggage etc while we stand there waiting. We do feel obliged to help but then again we are on vacation and are quite old and really prefer not to have to do any heavy lifting etc. This is in contrast to my trip after this where there was a much higher staff to guest ratio and many of them are strong young men that make me feel perfectly comfortable not helping but just hanging around enjoying myself while waiting for them to set up everything. The transfer from the motor boat to the camp was by a small rowing boat. There was only one rowing boat so a lot of time was wasted transferring both passengers and bags. Probably two rowing boats and one extra guide will be better.

Wildcoast staff had an unexpected emergency that came up at the last minute which caused them to have to cancel our day trip. However, to their credit they worked hard to get us booked in for the same day with another company - we really appreciated them going above and beyond to set this up.
