We climbed in the morning when it was cooler; the walk took us about 2 hours return and was very enjoyable. It was very quiet, we met one couple on our ascent. The view from the top are well worth the effort of the climb, which can be quite steep in part.

This steep trail is quite the cardiovascular workout for the average Joe! That being said, if you're in shape and don't mind the workout, the views at the top are gorgeous!

I loved this hike. It gives you a panoramic view of the North Island, Mountains and ocean. It is not that challenging, but it is a bit of a climb so you do want to be in shape.

This hike can be done in a wonderful circuit around South Chinese Mtn. I suggest counterclockwise but could be done clockwise as well.

Remember to sign in at the parking lot - there is a book and pen in a ziplock. From there it was 25 minutes at a brisk hike to the top of North Chinese Mtn. The trail followed old logging road most of the way up and had challenging footing in some places but was well marked.

The trek to South Chinese Mtn was only half an hour summit to summit and meandered up a beautifully maintained trail. The views from here were spectacular (better than I expected). Be sure to continue to the lookout to view Rebecca Spit, Marina Island, Cortes Island and Mittlenatch to the south. I then continued on the circuit toward Beech's Mtn.

Beech's Mtn is another beautiful trail that takes off to the north. The view is less spectacular than the Chinese Mtn vistas so I would skip it if short of time.

South Chinese Mtn summit to parking lot is about 40 min at a brisk hike. This part of the trail is rough as the old logging road washout makes the traction underfoot less than desirable. Be sure to have good hiking boots/shoes and be especially cautious in wet conditions.

We did the trail on a rainy day and still had a bit of a view between the clouds. Easy hike for a great view. Fun to spend time at the top exploring. We went back down the same way we came up.

Went up in rain and fog but during the day it cleared. The rocks are slippery on a wet day so travel with caution. Well marked trail,

We passed this park twice while looking for it as we did not see the sign, worst was the single lane (narrow) gravel road that leads to a small parking lot with two way traffic..
The view on top was fantastic, again - signage was a bit confusing, we met two ladies who missed the view from the top as they couldn't find it..

It is a little up hill, but you will be at the top of Chinese Mountain in about an hour. Wear water proof shoes. The view is so beautiful:) Take a lunch to eat at the top.
After lunch, you will be down in no time. Hop in the car and drive to the end of Joyce Road. There you will find the world renowned James Pottery. You won't believe your eyes:)

Lovely quiet walk, not the easiest of walks, as quite steep with lots of rocks and stones. (Make sure you have the correct walking shoes). It was well worth the visit, the scenery is stunning.

We hiked up the South Chinese Mountains and then went across to the North Chinese mountains before hiking down. The views from the top (particularly the South side) are amazing - you can see for miles and have a great view of Quadra Island and all its beauty as well as Vancouver Island. A great hike with plenty to see.
