Sonny is an amazing fishing guide. Very knowledgeable and personable. Knows the waters and where the fish live. High tech equipment and a very comfortable boat. Our group of 4 had an awesome time fishing.

Best fishing day of our lives. 40 lb salmon which we caught and released. Sonny was incredibly precise with his helpful hints for these two senior fisher persons. He cleaned our two keepers and took them to Campbell River for vacpac. Great guide with a super personality. Thanks, Sonny. Carol & Wayne

Undoubtedly the best guide in Campbell River - great personality to enjoy with a vast experience of the waters and importantly the ‘gear and lures’ to be used on the conditions of the day in respect to how the fish are feeding. And importantly to see the fish landed in the boat - even if we did max out our (salmon) limit in a very short time. And then there was the monsters of those ling cod. And then there were the humpbacks, eagles and the wonderful scenery to be enjoyed.

We went 8 years ago salmon fishing with Sonny- and came back this year for another full day - we caught 13 salmon and had to let go a lot of them as they were too big or too small !
Sonny’s Expertise is incredible and he really knows how to engage teenagers ! It was a wonderful experience !!!!! We will be back again!

Sonny was very accommodating and informative from the very start. My wife and I called him a few days before we planned to visit the area, and he guided us through all the licensing details and directed us to his launch site from our lodging. We arrived, and it was smooth sailing. The Chums were slow to start, and we missed a couple, but Sonny directed our technique. Later we fell into the bite and landed two big fish. It was a long day out on the water, but Sonny’s storytelling and friendliness made it worthwhile. Despite being a slower day, Sonny made sure we found the fish. We are planning on calling Sonny for a halibut charter next year. We’d highly recommend him. Super friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating.

1 supernatural guide.
4 semi-competent quests.
6 hours on the water
38 hits.

28 Springs (between 15lbs and 24lbs) to the side of the boat for a photo opportunity - and then released to feed the south coast’s hungry Orcas!

Had a great afternoon with Sonny - gorgeous weather, beautiful boat ride up to the fishing area. Caught two beautiful sockeye - another two got away! Saw eagles, sea lions - gorgeous. Sonny was fantastic - very easy to be with, very knowledgeable and interesting. Would highly recommend and will definitely fish with Sonny if we're out this way again.

We have been on many many fishing charters in Alaska and really felt lucky to hook up with Sonny. He was personable, funny, knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. We caught our limits +, had so much fun, and loved the lunch barbecues. He kept a spotless boat, took great care of his clients, and was very safety conscious. We plan on returning in the near future.

Despite an unfortunate start, we had a great day fishing with Sonny from Boonie charters. The salmon permit system is extremely difficult to navigate if you haven’t used it before, and we arrived without having printed the correct ‘stamps’ from the website. We had to visit a local resort at 6am to spend an hour on their lobby PC - thank you to the lovely lady at April Point resort who helped in our moment of need!
Once we were underway Sonny soon found the fish, and we all caught salmon. The scenery and weather were stunning, and Sonny diverted to some whales we saw in the near distance - an added bonus.
Throughly recommend a day fishing off Campbell river. Sonny was excellent, and I hope to fish with him again one day.

We will be at Camp Homewood from March 3,2017 to March 9,2017 - what kind of fishing is in the area at that time of the year?

Hi Barbara,
Thank you so much for your inquiry about fishing in March. That time of year there are great opportunities for fishing! There are winter steelhead in the rivers and feeder chinook salmon in the Straight of Georgia off Quadra Island. March can be stormy around here, so saltwater fishing is weather permitting.....
