We stopped at Inverness Beach just to visit and ended up staying all morning. The beach is beautiful and the water warm enough to swim in late June. The boardwalk was nice, but the washroom facilities were closed (due to Covid19). There was a place to change into swim suits, but the garbage hadn't been picked up in a while. Highly recommend it as a nice place to spend a warm day.

We spent a sunny afternoon on this expansive and sandy beach. There are wooden walkways (wheelchair accessible) between the beach and Cabot Links Golf Course.
The beach was clean and uncrowded despite it being a hot July afternoon. Ideal for kids and dogs ! - we walked for 2 hours.
Lots of free parking and a beachside canteen/washrooms.

Great place for a stroll on warm fall day. Wales the Cabot Links golf course- well sort of. The boardwalk allows for wonderful views of the beach and the golf course. There is a stretch of the boardwalk where you are literally walking with golfers to find their ball on the course. Nice sandy beach with lots of room to spread out.

Pros:
* Handicap accessible via ramps and mats leading to the beach. Wheelchairs and floating chairs for the water are equally available. You won’t find this option anywhere else in Cape Breton.
* Albeit going through a renovation, the location generally served hot, fast food options on site. They equally served ice cream prior to the renovations but unsure if this will still be the case when completed.
* 3 changing rooms with benches and hooks.
* Outdoor shower head to remove access sand, though they removed the privacy wall which I thought added to the aesthetic.
* Two large bathrooms with flushing toilets.
* Sandy beach and in the water for miles.
Cons:
* The parking is atrocious here as there is not enough ample parking for the popularity of this beach. You have little to no chance parking in the actual parking lot and will need to resort to the nearby harbour or along the road leading to the beach. There ARE limited spaces available where the beach hut is, but they fill quickly as well.
* The locals drive very fast up and down the road. Be mindful when walking to the beach, especially with children.
* Make sure you give yourself ample space of parking next to another vehicle. Patrons have no shame parking so close to you that you could potentially be stuck and not be able to get out. This happened to me more than once where I had to climb in from the trunk or the passenger/back doors to access the driver door.
* Be mindful where you park as well. Don’t go near the fishing sheds. The locals will not shy to tell you that you are not welcome there and snicker at you when you walk by them at the beach.
* Take chairs with you at all costs, otherwise the locals will set their chairs on you. My daughter and I had a blanket and not one, but two families set their chairs on us leading us to move. The second family actually laughed at us when my daughter of 9 years old and I were relocating our items. Such a dismaying experience.

This boardwalk is brilliant. It bounds one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. If you doubt me, visit!

We went to Inverness Beach three different days to hunt for sea glass. The first time we visited, we walked the boardwalk to the right, cut through to the beach at an appropriate spot, and then walked back on the beach. From the boardwalk, we actually saw a fox run across the Cabot Links golf course! However, we found out that it really works best to walk both directions on the beach when hunting for sea glass since pieces of glass that weren't exposed on the way out can be there in plain sight on the way back. It is also helpful to bring a walking stick to dig around through the piles of stones. Digging is how we found small pieces of brown and blue sea glass. Most of the glass we found was clear, milky white, or green. We found some really nice sized pieces. We found 2 pounds worth of sea glass in a total of about 4 hours of searching. It is also helpful to check out the tide table. Even though the tides here are not very significant, low tide does expose more rocky areas to check through. It also helps to have on water shoes (or just bare feet) for grabbing that sea glass that is getting ready to disappear by wave action.

We, as a family, were looking forward to our time on Cape Breton. Sadly, I have never been treated so poorly anywhere I have travelled, and I have been to a lot of places all over the world. The people in Inverness went out of their way to be unaccommodating, impolite and rude to me, my wife and my children. To qualify, if you hail from Nova Scotia, or any of the other Maritime province you will probably fair well. But any province west of there......just don't bother stopping. Mabou< Baddeck, Sydney, Louisberg or any other place on Cape Breton is great. Inverness,,,,,,,,what a disappointment. We had planned to stay in Inverness for 5 days but left after 3 and probably should have left after 1.

Part of the Coastal trail, this great walk also goes between some of the holes on the Cabot Links golf course and the sea. Beauty in all directions! The views of the ocean are great and you get to enjoy watching the golfers as you walk. We chatted with a few of them as they walked along the course.

You will feel inspired by the colourful rocks on this beach (blues & violets)! It is very easy to find sea glass, so bring an empty bag or cup for your new collection and souvenir. A must-stop for great photos!

I looooooooved this place. The views were amazing. The boardwalk was well maintained. Lots of areas to stop and rest or go onto the beach. Best of all, it was totally accessible for my son who is a wheelchair user!! The beach itself lends out beach wheelchairs for free! Many thanks to the Inverness community for making their gorgeous beach and boardwalk accessible to all!
