What a place! In a beautiful valley setting, these 4 seperate castles, stretching ever skywards, make up the fantastic chateau da Lastours. The castles are fantastic, but the real reward is the effort to get up there combined with the views, quiet and sense of...More

Situated about a 25 minute drive from Carcassonne Lastours is definitely worth a visit. Free parking at the bottom & it costs €7 to gain entrance which includes a small museum & gift shop with souvenirs. You don't actually need walking boots to walk to...More

We spent 3 hours exploring the 4 castles. Just 25 minutes' drive from Carcassonne, they offer stunning views, and an invigorating climb. We set out just after 10am, and only saw half a dozen other people - a lovely change from the souvenir shops and...More

You park with the car down in the village. You have to pay €7 to hike towards the 4 castles but it's worth it! Beautiful view. Loved it!

A great walk, not too strenuous and with a well defined path (mostly steps). I went in flip flops and it was not a problem at all - don't be put off by any reviews which say you need sturdy footwear or walking boots, just...More

€20 entry for 2 adults and 2 kids. We popped for a quick leg stretch after visiting Carcassonne in the morning. Nice walk up with kids and dog - whilst quite steep in places, not that strenuous really - well maintained path (trainers rather than...More
