amazing walk

amazing walk, but not for everyone. It takes more or less 2 hours, not easy for everyone to walk to the top of each castle but highly recommended

Nice hike. Did it with my 5 year old son and he climbed with ease. The medieval village is not much too see, so didn't go down and up. It is a 1.5 hour excursion. Afterwards had nice lunch in the village.

These tours are really worth seeing. The walk up to the tours is not easy though - so probably not great for people with mobility issues. The view at the top if fantastic, and it is great to climb around the ruins. Just a word of caution to people with kids - there are not really that many safety features... More

This is a wonderful site and a ‘must see’ for anyone visiting the area. There are a lot of steps and the visit to the site is not for the infirm or very unfit. However, the belvédère (view-point) is easily accessible and provides a dramatic view of the four towers. RECOMMENDATION: Visit the belvédère first. The view is very impactive... More

You can hike (it takes about 1 to 2 hours) or you can go by car to Belvedere for a panorama view of the four ruined castles (Cathar Castles).

We walked the steep inclines to each of the 4 castles (the 4th one Cabaret was closed for restoration and has scaffolding on the tower). The paths and walkways are better kept than some of the previous castles we have visited and were much easier to navigate. The third castle Tour Regine has wooden steps inside that you can climb... Like many others I did not make it to the top due to the steep climb. However there is a splendid view from a purpose built view point a fairly short drive away that is well worth the effort as the views on a clear sunny day are amazing

Religious intolerance drove the Cathars to build these mountain peak chateaux. There remnants speak today of the need for tolerance. Their setting is just astonishing. One can have a good hike from peak to peak or view them from the belvedere across the valley.

Hiking on steep slopes as you move between four centuries-old castles on a single ridge. It was wonderful, but perhaps not suitable for the infirm or high heels.
