Camping on Galiano Island is overrated. The amount of money you're spending on ferry, then a site that only has Pit Toilets and no running water. Cultus Lake is like luxury compared to this. I've been twice in a decade and do not have any desire to go back again. They have an abundance of pesky racoons which have no where to go and keep multiplying. The work you have to do to keep them out of your campsite in the wee hours is to load everything into your vehicles at night. If you don't bring enough firewood, bring cash as it's $1. a piece of wood, which I find a joke in any campsite, when we used to get it for free. My main complaints are that I witnessed anyone with a trailer dumping there toilet waste right into the campsite area! Gross. I saw the sewer lines leading out of trailers into the edges of campsite, dumping excrement and P right into the land. Then the Pit toilets aren't even equipped with a single xmas bulb even! Pitch black. Not a single $4. solar light you could buy at dollar store. Then I found out that Dionisio Point Bike Trail which I found to be one of the best attractions to experience has been blocked and no public access. Private Property. There was someone claiming to be a property owner telling people that there is no longer access! Take your own risk. What a loss. If you have a boat it's a different story all together. Clear, Smooth Ocean waters, Orcas, Seals, Jellyfish, Starfish can be seen. Too expensive of a trip without a boat and disgusting if you're around a trailer. Will not be going back. Not worth it.

Lovely place to paddle board or kayak or just enjoy the beach .You can enjoy a picnic or wander around the sandstone natural structures. It’s very quiet and peaceful great place to relax.

The cleanest, best equipped and friendliest campground we have visited ever. Great sites that are raked and cleaned between guests, clean pit toilets, delicious and plentiful drinking water and a location in the center of boating, hiking and memorable sunsets.

The crushed shell beach is unique. If it occurs anywhere else, I don't know of it. The Gray Peninsula trail add to nature's experience.

We were cruising down from Desolation Sound and originally were going to stop at Nanaimo but caught the tide right to pass through Dodd Narrows and took it. Then it was a case of where to anchor especially with a forecast of NW winds. Montague Harbour was the best for our requirements and headed there. Although the mooring bouys were taken we dropped anchor with lots of swing room. It is a bit deep though so we had to let out 170' anchor line for a good ratio. It is a wonderful park with camp sites, toilet facilities, docking capability and hiking. A beautiful and protected spot.

The scenery at this park was gorgeous. There was one trail that could be easily walked in 30 minutes with some lovely scenery.

Hi, Does anyone know which if any water taxi companies in gulf islands will take you to Montague Harbour Marine Provincial Park or near to it?

There are water taxis all over the gulf islands but not sure where you mean to take one from? BC Ferries has service to Galiano and it is easy road access to the park from there.

hi, we ride road bikes and wondered if one can cycle on a roadway or smooth pathway for any distance. we usually like fairly level areas to go approx 25 km /day. we'll be camping for a few nights at Montague park.

Yes you can ride on the road on the island. Their roads are narrow and no designated shoulder for bikes. However, traffic is very minimal and they know how to give you lots of room when they pass you. Just make sure you are visible to them and you will be fine.
Galiano island is not level. You have to go up hills to get to anywhere so keep that in mind.

We are planning to tent camp for a week at montague harbour provincial park this summer. As it looks like there are no showers at the campground, is there a place somewhere to take a shower during our stay?
Thanks
