We had a wonderful experience with this trail ride group. We are a family of three and were visiting the Waterton area in Aug, 2021.
Royce and his assistant guide made sure all the horses were appropriate for the rider’s physical size, and skill level. This was our son’s first horseback trip and he had an amazing experience! My husband grew up on a farm, and spent a lot of time on horseback growing up. HIs horse was very well-suited to him too!
We completed the 2 hr ride, which was just the right amount of time for us. The ride led us across the river 3 times, at low water crossings, thru some forested areas, and along a couple ridge lines. Awesome views of the mountains and surrounding valley.
Royce and his assistant were patient, attentive and very safety-conscious. I would definitely recommend this experience for anyone who wishes to see Waterton from a unique perspective!

Royce is a kind natured true cowboy. It has been awhile since I've ridden a horse but Royce gives easy, simple instructions that help the beginners or the people that need a refresher lesson before you go. I did the 1.5 ride early in the morning and it was truly amazing going through the trails seeing some of the different birds. As well as getting to go through some parts of the river. I would so recommend anyone that enjoys or wants to try out horseback riding to go for a visit. It would so be worth it in every way.

Amazing experience! Nestled in the beautiful Waterton National park, this trail ride showed us the most beautiful untouched beauty of Waterton.
Royce is a very nice guide and took special care of my autistic son ( It was his first ever horse back riding experience!!) Royce is also a true gentleman. He took extra effort to go back all the way through the trail and found my lost Iphone too! Thanks so much Royce!! We will come back! Cheers.

Amazing experience! Did the 2-hr sunset ride. My group was inexperienced with horses but felt really safe during the whole ride. By the end of the ride we were laughing and enjoying the horses trotting. It's definitely a must do at least once in your life type of thing--or trade your car for a horse as per owner Royce! A bonus close up viewing of an eagle as well.

Amazing sunset ride with my mom and sister. The scenery was gorgeous. Royce was a terrific guide. Kept us entertained the entire time! His horses were incredible, perfectly trained. We did some water crossings which was so much fun. Saw all kinds of wild life. Highly recommend!

Amazing ride! We took a 2 hr sunset ride with Royce. We got to do a lot more on this trail ride than other ones we've done, like taking the horses through water and trotting. ( Even cantering once but I wasn't supposed to 😉 ) I can't say enough good things about this ride! We will for sure be back!

I went with my two sons (first-time riders) and we had a great time. Macy took us step-by-step through how to ride safely, and made us feel confident with the horses. The scenery was so beautiful! We got to cross the river on the horses, which was lots of fun. It was well worth the money and we will definitely be back!

Absolutely loved our experience there, the guide was super accommodating. My 6yr old daughter with riding experience was allowed to trot (an absolute highlight for her) and we were able to walk through a little creek. Can’t recommend it enough.

We took the two-hour sunset trail ride during a recent stay at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton Lakes National Park, and it was terrific. Elk Ridge Ranch is only about ten minutes east of Waterton and is easy to find. Royce, our guide and wrangler, gave a brief but thorough overview on what we'd be doing, and then brought out the horses one by one and got us mounted. The ranch has horses for every level of rider. Most of them are very gentle and are quite used to the trail. One of the great things about this ride is that we weren't stuck plodding at a snail's pace behind a long line of horses for two hours. Once Royce had us out on the prairie, he just gave a general direction to proceed, and we could ride at our own pace, plus we could ride side by side. We went up and down trails, forded streams, rode through wide open prairie and cattle herds, and through thick brush. We saw several eagles along the way. The sunset was spectacular. You're encouraged to bring a camera, and I'm certainly glad I did. Sometimes my horse grew impatient while I was composing my shot and wanted to gallop to rejoin the others, but it was pretty easy to keep him under control. I can't say enough good things about this ride. It was a blast.
