Perspective from older, reasonably fit hikers: Take the 8:30 boat out and book the 5:30 boat back. On June 30 we booked the 9 AM boat and made it back to the dock area at 5:15 PM. We made it on the hike through the...More

Dropped of by Ferry with 80+ other hikers. Walked in single file for 1 hour until people started spreading out. Many stopping or turning back. Strenuous hike at some points. Surrounded by breath-taking views the entire way. Crypt Lake is stunning. Remember, it is a...More

A 3 km boat ride from town brought us to the trailhead, followed by 20 Kms of wooded trails and too many switchbacks over scree faces to count. Add in a natural tunnel through the rock face, a support cable along a 3' wide path...More

A great hike for all ages and especially with children (age 6 and up) just a little bit more exciting than the average hike, with a boat ride start a very small rock climbing finish and the rewards of a hanging lake.

If you are half thinking of doing this hike- then do it Walking across the snow was the worse bit - in my opinion, the ladder, tunnel and cave were ok It took us 3.5 hrs to get to top. We didn’t have time to...More

A quick boat ride to the trail head is well worth your time! Crypt lake is gorgeous! Make sure you pack a lunch if staying the day or spend the night camping - you won't regret it!

Not for the faint of heart, or afraid of heights, but even though I'm both, I'd do it again. I did this for my 60th birthday and the views were incredible.

If there is one hike to do, this is the one. The beauty of this scenic hike is unmatched. The variety in this hike is awesome, from a boat ride across the Waterton Lakes to a crawl thru a short tunnel. Spectacular!

Yes if you want to walk 12 miles before you start the hike. The hike is strenuous so I would highly recommend the boat shuttle.

No guided tours. If there is a bear you'll see him with or without a ranger. The ferry is usually crowded with people doing the hike so you could join up with a group. Take a can of bear spray and talk a lot. We didn't see... More
