Everyone is like blah blah Crypt Lake is the most beautiful hike in the park blah blah but OMG how is this trail overlooked. We did this hike on a rainy (sometimes hailing) day and it's beauty shined through with ease. Sometimes narrow at times but our friends who is scared of heights managed with few shudders. I can't imagine... More

One of the very few likes I would do again! You need to be quite fit as the ascent is around 900m from Cameron lake and the total trail length is 19km. But the views are amazing and from Summit lake the trail just keeps giving great view after great view! It was VERY windy on top and rained a... More

Carthew-Alderson is one of the three Waterton Triple Crown hikes. It takes about 6 to 8 hours depending on your speed and the weather conditions. You hike from Cameron Lake, one-way, back into town. The hike is of medium difficulty, but should only be attempted during good weather because the ridge is quite exposed. 1) Begin by boarding a shuttle... More

We loved this hike! We took the first hiker shuttle from town and had an amazing day. The variety of breathtaking sites along the way was outstanding! It was tough, though. Not for the "flip-flop" crowd. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone afraid of heights either. Out of our two weeks hiking in the Glacier/Waterton area, this adventure ranks among... More

We started this trail from Cameron Lake - took the shuttle to trailhead which is mandatory (and free) in 2016 due to closure of the Akamina Parkway. Simply outstanding!! The views are breathtaking. 650m climb in the first 8 kms and then 1,100m of downhill in the next 10 or so - that's harder than you might think!! We chose... More

Our group of four took seven hours to hike the 12.5 mile Carthew-Alderson trail. It is interesting throughout, but the section from Summit Lake to Alderson Lake is truly breathtaking. This was one of the best days of hiking in my life, due to the unique topography, geology, and Alpine landscapes reminiscent of the Swiss or Italian Alps. This trail... More

We started the hike from Cameron Lake, a beautiful spot in itself. I strongly recommend starting as early in the day as possible, as it gets quite hot on the way up. (And the sun wasn't directly overhead when we went). At the top, definitely go the extra bit to the rock viewpoint, you can see down in all directions.... More

This is one of the best hikes we've ever done. Challenging, even terrifying in parts and the wind was ferocious. But oh what views!

Amazing hike from Cameron Lake to the town site of Waterton at Cameron Falls. Between Crypt Lake and Carthew - Alderson Trail its a toss up :) The hike is long but not a difficult one. The views are best at the beginning of the hike and it's best to dress warm as the wind is strong and cool at... More

A fairly long, but beautiful hike. We took the bus to the trailhead today and hiked along Cameron Lake, over the mountain summit and back to the townsite. Still some snow, but fun to slide down the hill:)
