You get to Bamfield by boat, or by driving over some rough roads. And when you arrive your feel like you are in a coastal fishing community, with the inlet as the mainstreet, and boats of all types running up and down. The Marine Sciences Centre is on the side with road access and worth an hours visit. Across the water is the General Store, Coast Guard, Bistro and numerous small accommodations - totally scenic and charming in the sun or rain to walk the boardwalk. Camp at Pachena Bay or take a hotel room. Visit Brady beach and hike to Keeha Bay. Hike the start of West Coast Trail and experience real ladders. Spend a couple days here at the least and bring rain gear at any time of year.

Very knowlegable people. I enjoyed my time studying the tide pools for hidden life. pretty amazing life happening in places that are easily overlooked if you don't pause to take a look.

I came here on a school trip for research, and also a way to bond with peers. It was a great experience, and we participated in many activities. We went hiking, boating, and looking for creatures on the beach.

we were there in september 2018, the view is okay but for the rest theres not much to see. Bamfield is more of a hiking/fishing place if you want tosee things.

Make sure you get a scheduled tour with the public education department. Lots of knowledge and fun with the touch tanks. Beautiful location and view of the harbor. A must see if your going to Bamfield.

Friendly, informative tour that helped us to understand the local marine environment. Interesting for kids and teens. My pre-teen really enjoyed the tour. Worth a visit.

Stopped in on a rainy day with our little guys and the woman who was attending the touch tanks that day was just incredible. She was so great with the boys and they learned so much from her. Highly recommend checking this place out if you get the chance

Aside from an informative scheduled tour my personal experience, over the years, has been raised to being treated as one of their guests to use of the library and other lovely over genuine gestures.
Great for the family to learn so much from these interesting tours.
Truly a must to enjoy when you are in Bamfiled

You will NOT be let down. The view, the knowledge, the passion, the property. The culture that is here, will never leave your mind. It's a land of beauty and only the lucky get to come out here and see what this Centre has to offer.

Once each year in July since 2007 there is a music festival in the small community of Bamfield which brings together a community of musicians and others that focuses on classical music and jazz. This culminates in a week long series of magnificent concerts in a magical auditorium which is part of the Marine Sciences Centre here that the four of us found enchanting and truly first class. The programme ranged from a Beethoven sonata to inspired saxophone jazz.
Reaching Bamfield requires some research but it is well worth the effort and book early for accommodation. For us an added bonus was that my wife left behind a friends much valued walking stick and some days later when we discovered the loss and started to phone where we might have left it we had an immediate warm response and it is now on it's way back !

I am travelling with 3 families at the end of July and staying at Pachena Bay campground. Do you offer tours for the public and if so what is the schedule please?
