The new public library in Powell River is a cool retreat on a hot summer day. With the addition of a small coffee bar (with fabulous coffee) this makes the library an easy destination, especially now that it is centrally located. Take a break and read the daily newspaper or choose a magazine to leaf through. The kids will love the new children's room...and the teens also have their own space! If you live in BC and have a library card from your town or city you can bring it in, have it turned into a BC OneCard and borrow material to take out. Anyone can obtain a guest pass for an hour of usage on the computers, to log into the free wifi if you have your own device. Situated very close to the Tourist Information office, this is a logical spot to research hikes and the local history of the area. Best part is that it is all free to the public! (except the coffee which is run by the non-profit group PREP). Residents of Powell River are very proud of this new facility and love to have guests come in and enjoy it too.

The library is a gem to add to Powell River and area. It is large and very wide open with shelves that you can see over so easy to reach books no matter how tall you are. It is new, yet no pretentious, but rather a place to go to read, research or take out books and videos. Extra friendly staff who are eager to help.

The library is quiet and SO cool (air-conditioning helps at this point) and they have a 3-D printer which makes it quite exciting to know, and to use

It's not often you're encouraged to have a conversation or discussion in a library. As well, to walk around with a cup of coffee and baked good in hand while looking for something to read or someone to talk to. Powell River library is brand new and allows, in fact, encourages you to do the social thing and culinary thing with the coffee shop providing great coffee and baked goods.

The new Powell River Public Library is three to four times the size of the previous facility. Located at a busy juncture in a shopping mall in the city, it is attracting twice the previous number of visitors -- almost 700 a day. How do I know this? I attended the grand opening on the 22nd of July. Bright and open, with many attractive displays, internet/computer terminals, children's and teen areas, as well as programs and meeting rooms. Well worth a visit.

As our accommodation was charging for wifi we decided to check out the local library. Free wifi, great space, washrooms, helpful staff & aircon. Need I say more?

We dropped in to see the Library and ask if they took book donations. Unfortunately they did not but we walked around and it is quite complete, not large but nicely done and easy to find what you are looking for. There is also a small Cafe inside where you can buy drinks and muffins.

This is a brand new library for Powell river and it lovely and full of Books and reader books and DVD's etc. There a coffee shop inside to seat down a relax and read a book and have a coffee and treat.

Finally Powell River has a super user friendly library! Lots of parking too! Lots of tables and chairs, free WIFI, computers to use, friendly and helpful staff. The real ticker tho is the Coffee Shop....serving up capaccino or espresso with the ever so delicious and locally roasted 32Lakes coffee beans!!! Best library I have ever been in!
