We stopped here on our way back from But hart gardens, on the number 75 bus which stops at the end of Beaver lake and the other end of Elk.
We swam, sunbathed and walked. Take your own food. The toilet block was being refurbished but there were portaloos.

I have gone to Elk Lake and area many times over the years and each time it is at least the same beautiful place as ever. I did the dual lake walkaround a couple of times and it is great exercise without thinking it really is exercise due to the beautiful surroundings.

Beautiful park, great for long walks and much much more! Visited twice during July, great weather, and really enjoyed our long walk along one side of the lake(s). Elk is the larger lake, and Beaver is the smaller (but connected) one. Saw lots of folks out walking, swimming, picnicking and more while there. We'll be back!

This park has lovely walking paths, lots of birds. Watched rowing teams on the lake. Restrooms are nice, benches, picnic tables. It was fun to watch people bringing their dogs to swim in the lake. It was a birder's paradise.

as soon as I drive into the parking lot, i feel my stress leaving. I enjoy being in nature just moments away from civilization. And it is the best place to meet dogs of all types.

The trail around Elk Lake is around 10 KM.
The water sports you can enjoy on the Lake itself are very good.

Near the city and just off the highway, this peaceful park has a 10 K trail around it with many branches. Several beaches and at least 2 boat ramps. There are 3 main parking lots plus at least one other small one on the west side.

What a beautiful place to walk; among the trees, flat pathway, easy for people of all ages and abilities. It’s dog friendly. There are porta-potties available until the permanent bathrooms are finished being constructed. There are a lot of parking areas. There are open green areas for outdoor games. There are some covered shelters with picnic tables.

My wife and I were on a cycling trip from Victoria to Brentwood Bay. We decided to detour to Elk Lake where we found a nice wide path around the lake that we could easily cycle. This was a much better way than to cycle on the roads.

We also stopped at a beach where people launch small boats. It was a nice swimming spot to cool off. The other beach is much larger and busier and is located next to the main road.

We exited the park and follows gorgeous rural roads with farms to Brentwood Bay.

Highly recommend for a walk, cycle or swim, close to Victoria.

There are beaches for swimming with change rooms, tables or grassy areas to picnic, ramps to launch boats or paddle vessels and a lovely 10k trail around both lakes (with side trails if you want to make your walk longer). Good for a hot day, as at least 1/2 is in the shade. Washrooms are available along the route, but take your own water bottle.
