These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens, and National Historic Site of Canada, started over 100 years ago and remain privately owned by the family. Jennie Butchart wanted to make her husband's depleted limestone quarry look better and the result is the Sunken Garden. Other gardens include the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden and the Italian Garden. The gardens are meticulously maintained and provide a riot of colour for much of the year. During the summer, special lighting subtly illuminates the gardens, musical entertainment takes place on the Concert Lawn, and there are ten spectacular Saturday night Firework Shows. The Magic of Christmas season also has beautiful lighting and evening entertainment, and an outdoor skating rink. Spring offers hundreds of thousand flowering bulbs and Autumn is the time for dahlias, chrysanthemums and fall colours. The Gardens is open daily, year round.

Snowy Day!

Our tour took us to the Gardens but there was a large amount of snow but it still was a wonderful experience.

I finally saw the gardens late last Fall and they did not disappoint. It really is a lovely setting. Make sure you find your way to the water for the cool little peekaboo view. If you are a gardener or a landscape design geek you'll love this place. Eat somewhere else though. The food is very institutional and highly over-priced.

We enjoyed a family visit here in the summer of 2016, it was a beautiful day and the gardens looked spectacular. The gardens are very manicured so it won't suit those that prefer their planting a bit wilder. It is definitely very manmade, and not particularly "natural", but the flowers are absolutely beautiful and extremely well cared for. The Sunken... More

Less people and beautiful colors in the fall will give you pleasant day. The history is just as interesting as the flowers so make sure to grab a brochure.

I hope anyone visiting here loves flowers or at least likes creative floral arrangements. This place is flower and garden overload. Its pretty amazing though. There is so much love and care gone into the preservation and the creativity or arranging and looking after these gardens. The gardens are themed with the 4 seasons of the year. You receive a... The gardens were totally amazing. The education that you learn while your there is amazing. There were places to sit and take a breather and if there was anything we needed there was people all around. I would recommend this place to anyone!! Was a great place to go to while I visited Victoria.

After strolling through acres of beautiful flowers ,trees, water fountains, swans in the pool, stop by the ice cream stand for delicious ,creamy cool treat and then stop at the diningroom for High Tea at 3 oclock for a taste of wonderful sweets & sandwiches!
