Overview
More
These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens and National Historic Site of Canada started over 100 years ago and remain privately owned by the family. Jennie Butchart wanted to make her husband's depleted limestone quarry look better and the result is the Sunken Garden. Other gardens include the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden and the Italian Garden. The gardens are meticulously maintained and provide a riot of colour for much of the year. During the summer, special lighting subtly illuminates the gardens, musical entertainment takes place on the Concert Lawn, and there are ten spectacular Saturday night Firework Shows. The Magic of Christmas season also has beautiful lighting and evening entertainment, and an outdoor skating rink. Spring offers hundreds of thousand flowering bulbs and Autumn is the time for dahlias, chrysanthemums and fall colours. The Gardens is open daily, year round.

Not sure this place needs another positive review but wanted to put in my few cents in. This year the plants are about 4-5 weeks behind schedule because of a particularly cold winter. Even then the gardens were amazing. And I had to compare it...More

Was very nice but because the winter was so cold they were 2 to 3 behind so all the flowers were not quite ready to bloom but the gardens were nice as usual

We spent approximately an hour exploring the grounds of Buchart Gardens. Although if we had timed it better and waited a few weeks longer, then many of the buds would have been in bloom. Regardless, we had a wonderful time walking the trails, exploring the...More

Everyone that has been here told my wife and I to visit. My wife was very skeptical of us going because she knows my attention span can be short and lets face it, flowers don't excite many men. I actually persuaded her to go (because...More

The Butchard Gardens way exceeded any expectations. Each turn of the path revealed more and more beauty. The variety of plants and presentation was at times overwhelming Hours can be spent viewing each area of the garden.

Buchart Gardens is open in January, but be mindful it's winter so you will not see blooming roses, etc., however the shrubs and trees are beautiful.
