Spike Island comprises both an exhibition space and professional artists studios. When I visited this week they were curating a significant exhibition by Korean artist Kim Young-Il and I understand they have a wide programme throughout the year. I found the volunteer 'guides' exceptionally helpful...More

Popped in whilst watching the Tour of Britain cycling which went past Spike Island's front door. A good selection of beverages and cakes, great bacon butties and filter coffee so strong that it has a gold medal in Olympic weight-lifting. (Locally sourced quality coffee supplied...More

A worthy addition to this area. The light and airy atmosphere and great coffee make it a place to linger over the papers. The staff are helpful and efficient and decor pleasantly minimalist - but hey: it's a coffee shop and the coffee is great...More

My son took me to see the current exhibition and I was so impressed by the welcome, the enthusiastic and welcoming guide, general ambience followed by a delicious lunch in the Cafe. I will certainly look out in future what's on here.

Really good locally sourced food and some local ales. Staff are really friendly, couldn't fault it. Went for Sunday brunch.

Places like this should always be supported, even if the art installations aren't always great. It's a huge space which has an eclectic mix of installations and it's always worth a wander along the dockside to spend a while appreciating the art and enjoying some...More
