This is a quintessential English village with old beamed houses, thatched roofs and plenty of history. There are plenty of places to eat and drink and especially recommended is a walk down to the river. You can walk along the river to the centre of Cambridge. A very pleasant spot in which to spend an interesting day.

We drove here to visit where one of our favourite TV programmes is filmed. We visited the church and the graveyard and had a walk around the village finishing off siting outside in the garden of the coffee shop.

Pretty little village, enjoyed coffee at the cafe & learned a little about Rupert Brooke. We had a pleasant walk along the river. There were a couple of nice looking pubs but we didn't visit them.

Passed through the village on bikes on the way into Cambridge. Picturesque and twee. Pleasant enough on a dry day. Two pubs to stop at.

Lovely village with quaint thatched cottages and meadow aspect - we walk there from Cambridge regularly - well really for the pubs - a Blue Ball has great food from local produce / the Green Man - character filled low ceilinged pub - in winter has The best roaring fire

Walked 3 miles to get to the village, so luckily had an appetite to have the Cream Tea. Enjoyed scones, pastries and lovely sandwiches.

Grantchester has something for everyone all year round. The pubs are quaint and serve good food. The Orchard Tea room is lovely in the summer. The Grantchester meadows are perfect for a weekend stroll. And the Boxing Day Barrel race is a must!

Walking from Cambridge (Newnham area) through Granchester Meadows is a lovely walk at any time of the year. Other walks are available = park on the Coton Road and use the signed walk through to Haslingfield

During a recent stay in central Cambridge we walked along Granchester meadows to Granchester one morning in the lovely winter sunshine. It was a lovely crisp frosty morning. A beautiful walk (approx 2.5 miles) we visited the church and a lovely pub for a drink (mulled wine for me Coffee for my Husband). The pub called the Green Man was... More
