This is a lovely place to stay. Clean, modern and also classical. The porter is thoroughly welcoming and helpful. The gardens are a wonder. We sat in deckchairs and soaked up the atmosphere. The room is not air conditioned and has no tv but we did not need either

Spent two nights in a super room (for a college) with ensuite bathroom during summer holidays... the building & room were brand new, the service from the porters was very friendly. The walking distance to the city centre is a big plus, so is the college garden & cafe. The room did not have a TV but we did not miss one for a second.

tip: for free parking try Cranmer Road

I spent 10 days in Cambridge to see a graduation and spent a lot of time wandering around. The Sedgwick road colleges are worth going to. Firstly you leave behind the chaos that is central Cambridge during the day. Secondly you can visit newnham college. This is an arts and craft style college with an interesting history. The first college for women and the first to award a degree. The gates are certainly worth looking at. The cafe is nice. The gardens are exceptional. Well maintained and beautiful. Definitely the place for a relaxed summer picnic. The college is very welcoming and seems quite happy for visitors to wander around.

Dear All
This is a lovely college with an interesting history attached with the progress of women towards educational opportunity in the University. Lovely arts and craft / victorian buildings orientated around a lovely garden. The Clough gates are worth a look and it has a nice cafe. Well worth a detour from the mayhem of central cambridge. You are also close to a couple of smaller museums well worth a view.

For Victorian architecture lovers, beautiful brick buildings surrounded by gardens.
I recommend entering the Newnham College grounds through historical Clough Gates. The right for Cambridge University’s women students to be awarded degree was a subject of a long-drawn-out struggle. Anne Jemima Clough, who is commemorated in the magnificent bronze gates at the college, was an early English suffragist and a promoter of higher education for women. She was the first principal of Newnham College. Interesting fact for you: The Cambridge University awarded women degrees in 1948 - the last university in the U.K. to do so. The entry to college is free of charge.

Newnham College has a (relatively) new cafe on the premises, the “Iris Cafe” which is open to the public and serves good coffee, baguettes etc. It becomes a bar in the evening.

Slightly off the beaten track in Sidgwick Avenue, about ten minutes walk from Queens College and just opposite the Sidgwick University Site. A must see visit if you like gardens. A very nice porter will direct you through the corridors into a secluded paradise. I will go back next time I'm in Cambridge.

We visited here for a family members wedding, the grounds are stunning and plenty of parking close by meant it was very easy and stress free in comparison to a few other venues we have visited.
The room where the ceremony was held seemed a little lacking when we saw the outside of the building, but that may have been down to lack of rooms or just the choice of bride and groom!
Downside was there were students messing around on the grounds during celebration and canapé/drinks reception outdoors.
