New owners and name: The Cornerhouse Bar

Very, very different to how it was! Much improved. Good beers; good cheeses; great ambience; great music.

Desolate, depressing, drinking den. Don't drink, drive -as far away as possible from here. Believe it's actually closed since my visit. What a blessing.

Was visited Chester for festive drinks with old friends. The decor is Cosy and warm. The staff are welcoming and friendly as you would want. Great real ale choices. Not much more you could ask for. Toilets were a little below par

As well as serving some great ale the compass has live bands on regular and also advertises live bands on at other venues around Chester. Love the open fire too

Good little venue to watch a gig. However, the drinks are a bit pricey and the place could do with a bit of a revamp. Buy your drinks from downstairs. Little choice upstairs.

Second time coming to Chester but first visit to this place. Good choice of beer and ales. Good music being played and overall a great atmosphere. We only stayed for 1 drink as we wanted to see what else Chester had to offer. Good place for bands for play and would have definitely return next time we are in Chester.

We didn't stay long but there was a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Was quite busy and it was quite a small pub. We were treated to a couple... doing things that shouldn't done in public in the corner. I'm guessing they were intoxicated.

The Compass was just around the corner from our hotel and was a lovely place to visit for a pint of Guinness... Although we visited on a Thursday with little patrons inside we were aware of music coming from upstairs which sounded top notch. After a quick pint we went off with excellent direction to a local eatery and returned... More
