Lovely beach but homeless people/wild campers? have set up on the cliffside, so the area is a real mess. Men congregate there drinking and making noise.
Their encampment photo bombs in a negative way every picture taken towards the iconic Island House. I really hope something can be done soon to get the people and encampent moved as it lets the area down badly.

Avoid the surf hire shop and the shop attached to it if you are self conscious regarding you're appearance. The owner and what I believe to be his son were both stood near the shack making fun of a larger female and her partner in a wet suit. It was appalling to hear and we obviously did not stick around to use there service. Shame on you when you rent people wet suits, it's bad enough as it is wearing one when you are slightly over weight!

Went with my 8yo daughter to walk along the beach, searching for pearls!!! 😂 Was fun to watch the surfers brave the waves, saved a Pug from drowning and discovered a mysterious tunnel in the cliffs. Nice to walk along at sunset when the tide is out, but also fun to get splashed by the waves during the afternoons. Lots of points of interest here.

Lovely clean beach, loads of tide pools to find crustaceans in, plenty of lifeguards and loads of surfers. We spent some time just watching life happen whilst eating an ice cream. Rental places available for wetsuits, boards etc, close to the town and Bluereef Aquarium

Tried to hire some deck chairs from Towan Surf Hire, my scottish notes were refused even though there was no signs up saying that they are not accepted. Reason for this was they dont like them. simple as that. I thought i was in the United Kingdom where scottish notes are readily accepted throughout England. Seems lile this establishment is a bit xenophobic. Refused sale of goods due to where you are from is discrimination.

Towan Beach is near the town centre. The tide was out but there was a lot of activity going on. Lovely sand and dog friendly. Lifeguards patrolling the beach. Lovely afternoon spent here, not busy as mid week in term time.

We was lucky enough to spend some time here whilst in Newquay. The beach was lovely with beautiful golden sand and lots of surfing going on. The house at the top of the rocks is really cool too

Love Newquay and particularly Towan Beach - we used to come here when I was a child. Great memories of this beach and the rock pool at the foot of the rocks. The sand is gorgeous and this is a great place to bring your family. Be aware of the time when the tide is due in. Don't get caught out when the tide is coming in and get off the beach well before that>

Great beach, spent the day here.
Clean and dog friendly.
Crystal clear waters.
Just spend the day chilling or walking and exploring the caves and rock pools.
Depending on times you do get tidal cut off.
Plenty of shops and things to do around.
Hire deckchairs, surfboards, suits paddle boards.

I'm thinking of taking my daughter on her first snorkelling along the left side of Towan beach at high tide (along the rocks and towards the outside of the harbour wall, not too close though obviously). Any advice?

If you go make sure it is a calm day. The undercurrents around Cornwall can be dangerous.
