Tate St Ives will be closed until Friday 31st March 2017. The refurbishment of the existing Tate St Ives building has proved more complex than anticipated. After careful consideration we have decided to continue the building work through the year and we will reopen the refurbished Tate St Ives in March 2017. We will continue work on the new galleries and building over the summer 2017. The fully completed new Tate St Ives, encompassing the existing building and the extension, will open in autumn 2017. The planned exhibition season for summer 2016, The Studio and The Sea will open to the public on Friday 31 March 2017.

The view out over the beach from the gallery is amazing. Apart from that don't bother, really nothing much to see inside. A few modern compilations and some photos is all you get really, plus the photo displays are very badly hung and you get...More

Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry you found our staff to be unhelpful. We do have a strong programme of customer service training in place and incorporate all comments we receive from visitors. Once again, thank you for highlighting your concerns to us.

The eponymous sugar magnate would surely have been proud of the airy, curvy building, evoking the Guggenheim, though without the spirals. Not sure he'd have been as impressed with the exhibition on offer this week, though. I would recommend the rotating loan of one or...More

We did enjoy the visit but were pleased that we went for the joint price option. If installation art isn't your thing there may not be much to interest you. That said we found the art on display to be fascinating and thought provoking, but...More

Maybe it was just me, but I could only find 2 signs directing me here and ended up taking the steepest route on the hottest day. If you plan on visiting the Barbara Hepworth museum as well, then it is well worth buying a joint...More

Visited the cafe for a coffee and a cream tea. View was gorgeous, but I felt really let down by the food and service. I ordered a large American wih hot milk and received a small one with cold milk and it tasted sour and...More

I was surprised at how small this is (5 small rooms) plus 2 thin galleries/ walkways. There was an interesting interactive exhibition by Rivane Neuenschwander in one room: I Wish Your Wish. This is a colourful collection of ribbons with wishes on ranging from 'I...More

I was disappointed with the Tate St Ives. I was expecting it to have more interesting things to look at.

This gallery is on Porthmeor beach in a beautiful location and the building itself is really beautiful, but the gallery space is so small that I'm not sure it was worth the price of admission they are expanding the gallery (to be completed in 2017)...More

Perhaps my expectation was too high. I had hoped to see the odd master perhaps. unfortunately this was not the case. Blobs of bronze casting, a few underwhelming photographs and a room full of ribbons. That pretty much sums it up. Don't waste your money.

The Gallery is beautifully located, and, from the top floor, where the cafe is, there are fantastic views of St Ives and environs. The design of the galleries is a bit confusing - it is possible to exit without having seen everything, so you have...More
