This brooding 13th-century castle sits on the rugged and spectacular Atlantic coast in Cornwall, which recalls the myth and mystery associated with King Arthur and Merlin the magician. New exhibition explores the stories linking Tintagel to King Arthur which includes a 3D model of the site illustrating how it has changed over the centuries. Dog friendly and child friendly, this is a great day out for all the family.

Great experience. Used to go here every year as a kid with my siblings and parents. It is great to see the castle continues to be preserved. Do miss out on this beautiful national treasure.

What a beautiful little spot! Lots of myth and magical tales with beautiful views over the Atlantic. Perfect place for a picnic and a relax in the sunshine. No good for wheelchairs, pushchairs or silly shoes! Try the pasty shop at the top of the...More

Very windy! Very interesting! The legend of Arthur. Amazing views! Quite a steep climb to the top but well worth it! A must see!

After seeing the ruins of the castle, continue climbing to marvel at the views. Shuttle will take you to the base of the castle and/or back up to the ticket office. We walked down and took the shuttle back up. About 150 stairs up to...More

We visited here over May half term as a family of five. Access to the site requires a lot of walking. There is a steep hill down to the cafe/shop from the village, where the pathway to the castle on its cliff top setting begins....More

We visited here in June. It has been an ambition of mine to visit here for many years. There was a steep hill down to the bottom where the pathway to the castle begins, not too bad on the way down but hard work on...More

Very interesting place to visit. Arthur legends aside, the history of the site is still fascinating. That being said, hiking around with all the different levels of stairs is exhausting and the weather is VERY windy! Dress appropriately and be prepared for lots of steep...More

On a sunny day the blue water really shone - the access to the castle was fairly easy (across a bridge) and the beach with Merlin's cave offered a real contrast. The town offers shops, cafes etc to keep you replenished, the coastal path offers...More

There is so much to see in Cornwall and we have so little time. We would like to visit to Tintagel Castle. What is the minimum amount of time to make a visit worthwhile and what is a reasonable amount of time to spend? We are 70/72 yrs old and in good health but may not with to climb all the steps. Can we still have a good view?

You can use the Land Rover shuttle to get to and from the base of the cliff. Merlin's Cave and the shoreline are places of interest, but the main event (so to speak) is the castle and the views up there. It's a long steep... More
